What's up guys.

Currently driving a 2010 Tahoe LTZ but with 225K miles its time to start shopping.

Looking for some general feedback on what 2021 models and packages are good and what to avoid if anything-also the following

High country VS Premier
5.2L VS Diesel
Suspension packages or options?

Hold out for the 2022 and cross your fingers that model has less issues. 287 TSBs by March 3rd is a flat out joke!!!! Also get at least the LT trim with the signature package and go with the diesel if you plan on keeping it for some time. Just my 2 pennies

I purchased in September and I've had 5 or 6 bulletins so far on my '21 High Country.

While there may have also been a few before I purchased, this is normal with new model years. While inconvenient, it's under warranty.

I love this truck. I love the 6.2L also. I had a 6.0L Silverado 2500HD High Country previously, and the power difference is significantly noticeable. The vehicle handles well in snow too.

Normally a pick-up driver, I've always wanted to own a Tahoe, but could never afford it. I finally said F**k it and pulled the trigger. The only thing I miss is the bed.

Well said. I wouldn't be discouraged from buying these vehicles becasue of the TSBs as long as you don't mind a few trips to your local dealer. I would however be discourage by lack of inventory that has drove up prices on already expensive vehicles and the semiconductor shortage affecting key build options that drivers of these vehicles look for, mainly the tow package. Right now is not even close to a buyers market on these trucks, nor will it be for the duration of the '21MY. I'd wait on the 22 for that reason.

I wouldn't assume the 2022's will be the end all be all. Wait till feedback improves which may be 2023 model year. Don't be a guinea pig for a $60 to $80 thousand vehicle that will depreciate 50% in five years. In my world that's a lot of dough even if you can afford it so wait till GM raises their level of quality to a more sane level. That level will never be reasonable IMO but it will improve from the current level.

I have no idea how long I'm going to live. I try my best to enjoy life every day and live in the moment. I love driving my new Tahoe, it is a big improvement over my 2012 Yukon. It puts a smile on my face every day.

I bought my Tahoe in October and also have had no issues whatsoever. I have been on several road trips with the family and we love this vehicle. I also don't care about depreciation as I keep my vehicles 10 plus years. I feel bad for those who have had significant issues with their new rides, but Im not convinced this first model year is any more problematic than any other first model year vehicle.

I will replace mine in a heartbeat if i get enough from the lemon law. Next one will be the diesel though

Dang right, What vehicle doesn't? and waiting for a 22 or 23 just because it may improve is 2 + years out of your life waiting for the same basic vehicle.... I bought the 1st year of my vehicle and sure it had some 1st year issues, but all were solved and it went on to be a solid vehicle for 7 years.... If you are worried about depreciation and losing 40K on an 80K vehicle, go buy a KIA...

Thanks for the suggestion but my 2012 is better than any new KIA. I'm just thankful there are buyers willing to do the final QC on their dime so that I may purchase a finished product. I've always wondered how manufacturers get away with shoddy production and now I know - lowered expectations.

If it will never be reasonable quality to meet your expectations then why buy a GM at all? Consumers do have choices. If it's such a problem according to you then don't support the problem.

Perhaps I'm a discerning optimist with patience and I get a discount. I've looked at the competition; German, Japanese and Korean and they all have their negatives. So who knows, in a year or two gasoline prices may be a dollar more than now and the huge GMs with poor gas mileage will change the whole metric. I have time and I won't be sitting as if my happiness depends on a new vehicle, I like to travel.

Everyone's situation and temperament are different. I have a perfectly fine Tahoe that I will be trading so why trade for something that might not be as dependable, after all, there's no going back.

There are undoubtedly some issues being worked though and you will hear stories of complete lemons that have rolled off the line, but I think that has to be expected regardless of the manufacturer, generation or model year. I'll bundle any recalls with my free oil change and besides that it's been smooth sailing in an incredible performing family hauler. Just wanted to share my positive experience since you seem to be convinced this is a crappy product...from my first hand experience it is not. I do however understand the hesitation when dropping this kind of cash.

I'm currently in the process of planning yet another road trip of about 1,000 miles without hesitation about this trucks ability to perform. I personally know 2 other owners of '21s having the same experience as me. There are undoubtedly some issues being worked though and you will hear stories of complete lemons that have rolled off the line, but I think that has to be expected regardless of the manufacturer, generation or model year. I'll bundle any recalls with my free oil change and besides that it's been smooth sailing in an incredible performing family hauler. Just wanted to share my positive experience since you seem to be convinced this is a crappy product...from my first hand experience it is not. I do however understand the hesitation when dropping this kind of cash.

My 2012 has had zero problems, no TSBs nothing, so maybe I'm spoiled. At this time the 2021 has four recalls and 296 TSBs but I never said it is a crappy vehicle I'm saying it doesn't have the overall reliability for me to consider it especially after the test drive revealed a few issues. GM is experiencing part supply problems and quality control issues at the assembly plants. I suspect the covid pandemic has caused employee shortages and perhaps dissatisfaction among those forced to work.

Overall things aren't as they once were and to top it off dealerships are seeing less customer satisfaction with their experiences. My dealership has had a complete turnover in personnel so I suspect their pay and benefits have been reduced resulting in less qualified and motivated service personnel.

I'm from another era and I realize it will never be what it once was but I also believe pretending otherwise isn't the answer. We need to be reminded occasionally that we are headed in the wrong direction.

BTW, my 2012 gets 20 to 22 MPG on trips what are you getting?

I haven't tracked highway specific mileage on trips, but I average about 17mpg overall. I am heavy footed at times but not consistently. I also disable auto shut off. The 2021s are really heavy vehicles so I think that's pretty good considering and average in its class. Get the diesel if fuel costs matter to you.
