Going at 11 a.m. tomorrow to see and maybe buy this truck. My girl misses the Big Brown Beast. The 2004 Silverado K2500HD was too much truck and the 1996 Tacoma was like a "Tonka Truck", her words, and too uncomfortable for me. We have been looking and will be just a small trip between storage units and stay local. Had to either have a canopy or have to go buy one. This one matches the truck and the price is reasonable. The front tires are thin and need to be replaced but we will be putting stock type size wheels and tires on it, asap.

That's a definite PASS.

95 is a transition year, one-off year transmission (rebuilder really NEEDS to know his stuff for that year) obd1 emissions with some later front clip and interior.

At that mileage that tbi is SHOT. Mostl likely both the engine and 4L60e transmission have been rebuilt at least once (transmission probably twice or 3 times)...

Icing on the cake are big @$$ rims... means ZERO maintenance in my experience...run away FAST!

For that price, i can get you a beater gmt800 that already has an LS engine with 100 hp more, relatively better transmission AND rear disc brakes from rust free Texas...lol.

For what it will be use for, it will be fine. I talked to the owner and he has had it 3 weeks and was taken from his best friend in exchange for a different vehicle. The transmission was done at a shop in town, that I am very familiar with. A place called Transmission Solutions. I have done business with them before and are known in the area as the best shop in the county. I am hoping for a 700R4 but yes, is likely a 4L60E. I know it was a reman that was sitting on the shelf at the transmission shop. My biggest concern will be the rust and how it runs. I know the transmission is still under warranty. I will get the paperwork for sure. I will be bringing to my driveway for on ramps inspection. The mileage is high and am ok with that. It will be a local only truck. I also buttered up the owner, he is the same age and former military and I should get it for $3k. I have found replacement 17" 6 lug wheels and tires for it as well.

I am well aware of the OBD1 and OBD2 differences. I will consider everything. It is not bought till I inspect and check it out. The looks are there, except for the tires/wheels. I got this.

...still, don't you want to stay away from distributors?!

I drive way too many miles a year to know I want to stay clear of those engines. I guess if you don't drive that many miles, you are okay with them? IDK. My brother bought a 90 C1500 the previous owner had installed a 350 tbi. 30k miles later it was already burning oil...a TON of oil. He eventually did an LS swap.

I don't want to touch them after being left stranded númerous on the 4.3 (distributor, icm, distributor again, icm again, and still had a crank-no-fire on damp/wet weather) on my 99 Silverado.

That's just me... give me an LS engine, 8 days of the week, 366 days of the year.

I know. I know. She had that 1990 K2500 L/D. Great truck while I was with her here. It also had 150k less miles than this one. She knows, I will pick it apart and will put the KIBOSH on it if it scares me at all. I gotta humor her and she will abide by my decision. If the guy even hints at not letting me drive it here for me to check it out, stem to stern, the deal is through. Results will be posted here.

Backed out of the inspection of this truck. Miles on engine, cost for replacement tires and wheels and it being the last year of the OBD1 to OBD2 and just decided to stick with a non distributor GMT800 truck. Plus, after what @strutaeng had to share and if I had problems, he would never ever let me hear the end of it. The search continues.
