Only the state can use people's hopes against them to scam them out of their money through lotteries. And corporations through sweepstakes. And casinos. But not us little peoples. Either way it's a scam.

Other than on the rare occasion that it's simply a fun way to raise money for legitimate charities.

i think it had something to also do with an raffle for some $1M home that some lady won, but they never said anything about the $1M+ in gov't leins on the house when she won it.

On top of that, there is no one regulating that this is done in fairness other than the person doing the auction itself. Not to say Tony would ever do this, but can you imagine getting $35,000 worth of lottery tickets and then letting your "good buddy" coincidentally win the truck, transfer it over, then buy it back for a cool $5K. $30K profit AND you keep the truck.

Just too many loopholes. If this wasn't regulated this would just get out of hand and everyone would be pulling this and creating a scam raffle. Just easier to not allow them at all unless its a charity.
