I had an 04 Yukon that had the aluminum rear hatch, and I thought all were built like this to save weight. My 06 Yukon that I bought slightly used and exceptionally clean with no paint mismatch (that I can see) has a steel rear hatch. Did some Yukons, Tahoes, and Suburbans come with steel hatches also?

Yup. Completely random on which have steel and which are aluminum. It's not certain years or anything. Probably different plants or something

yeah when I first got it I thought I needed new strut support braces b/c it did not lift as easily, but it never fell on its own. So I stuck a magnet to it and lo and behold it stuck on.

can we have a random poll? If you guys can stick a magnet to your hatches. Just curious how prevalent the steel hatches are. :)

so it looks like no one has a steel hatch? Just trying to see if mine may be an aftermarket one possibly?
