    Upper Bal Joint Replacement?

Odd question potentially.. Do you know the factory ride height and tire size off hand for the 2500 series 4x4? The PO of my Yukon had tires way too big and/or had the current size tire before a lift/level kit was installed (major rub marks on one side and a broken bumper on the other) and I'm...

    Upper Bal Joint Replacement?

That makes more sense.. I did an initial 'google search' and didn't see a definitive side identifier, but after looking at the GM parts website you linked I did notice there is a small identifier for the # of parts required and they said 2. I do know the term bump stop.. hadn't ever heard it...

    Upper Bal Joint Replacement?

So would part numbers 1083/4068/5442 all represent 3 different UCA that are used for both driver and pass side? IE could I use 2 of the 1083 or 2 of the 4068 or 2 of the 5442.. or are the 1083 pass/driver and the 4068 the opposite? When I searched them real quick they didn't specify a side, so...

    Upper Bal Joint Replacement?

Glad you pointed out they are for the 1500 series.. according to Amazon they were a fit for the 2500. Ill have to look at the 2 sites you linked for part numbers.. never heard of/used them before. Cheers! My sway bar links are kinda janky looking.. will definitely be doing them in the not too...

    Upper Bal Joint Replacement?

oof.. reviving an old thread here in hopes I can get some extra info :) I have an 08 Yukon XL 2500 with 4x4. I went to have an alignment done and was told my passenger side upper ball joint and tie rod are bad enough they couldn't/wouldn't do the alignment but they weren't "unsafe" yet. After...

Fuel injector harness/spark plug burned.. potential causes?

I'm posting from mobile this time so I apologize for any weird spelling and formatting. I got the old coils out. I don't see anything blatantly wrong. I did notice something that looks like tape or something on the coil that burned.. But it looks like it had been there for a very long time...

Fuel injector harness/spark plug burned.. potential causes?

I'd say unfortunately.. But I'd be lying.. Its not unfortunate lol.. Any who we actually tow quite a bit with it. When we travel as a family (5 of us) we take it and the toy hauler. When its just me or when I want to fully load the toy hauler (which is heavier than the Yukon is rated for) then...

Fuel injector harness/spark plug burned.. potential causes?

You are correct.. mine does fine while moving, but sitting in traffic its terrible. So bad in fact that at times I feel the need to put in neutral and rev to 1500 to 2000 rpm to get the fan/water moving to cool it back down. This is ONLY while at a stop.. even cruising like 5-8 MPH it does ok...

Fuel injector harness/spark plug burned.. potential causes?

My ability to smell is god aweful. I couldn't smell all that well before getting covid and then when I did get it in 2021.. my smell went even more downhill. My wife was able to smell it though.. From the time she mentioned the smell to the time we got off the road/parked was ~2-3 minutes max...

Fuel injector harness/spark plug burned.. potential causes?

I am not the OG owner.. in fact since we have owned this vehicle I have done a TON of required repairs and some for peace of mind.. Entire cooling system (now I am thinking of switching to electric fans because this AZ heat is overwhelming the cooling system even with it all brand new)...

Fuel injector harness/spark plug burned.. potential causes?

Thanks all for the help. Not sure why I didn't think of coil harness instead of injectors.. It was a frustrating evening to say the least. Is there any inherent risk with buying used coils? I did a quick search and found summit sells all 8 for about $300.. Without the harness.. I don't mind...

Fuel injector harness/spark plug burned.. potential causes?

Hey all, I am in my wifes 2008 Yukon xl 2500 with the 6.0; I was stuck in stop and go traffic and my wife mentioned smelling a weird smell. She then says that she can see a very faint white haze/smoke coming from under the passenger side of the hood. I quickly pull a u-turn into the open...

Replacing wheel studs, should I do more? 08 2500 xl 4x4

I rarely buy directly from rock auto (nothing against them, I just don't buy online if I don't have to) and usually end up buying from a place called "parts authority" near me.. they are the middle ground between dealers and autozone as far as I can tell from my experiences with them. I just...

Replacing wheel studs, should I do more? 08 2500 xl 4x4

So this is where I am confused in looking at the hub assemblies (at least on Rock Auto). One of the options is an ACDELCO that states: ACDELCO FW392 GM Original Equipment Info Front; 9,900 lb Hydraulic Power Brakes and the Timken TIMKEN SP580312 Includes Sensor Info FitsFront; RWD orFront...

Replacing wheel studs, should I do more? 08 2500 xl 4x4

I have been leaning this direction for this very reason.. taking everything off for the steering (tie rods, upper control arm, etc) required a bit more manual persuasion than I expected.. and I was OK with that knowing all new stuff was going back in. I love this vehicle for the sake that...

Replacing wheel studs, should I do more? 08 2500 xl 4x4

I am in arizona.. no salt/snow to deal with here. I am assuming they were stretched by the PO or shop who just uggah uggah the crap out of them with either an air/electric impact. I don't mind the work.. I just did head gaskets and such a few weeks ago along with a whole new cooling system. I...

Replacing wheel studs, should I do more? 08 2500 xl 4x4

The question still stands.. should I replace the whole wheel/hub assembly (even with OEM vs heavier duty.. I lean heavier duty due to volume of towing) or do I leave those alone for now?

Replacing wheel studs, should I do more? 08 2500 xl 4x4

That would be my guess.. after replacing some other parts (like upper control arms and such) the previous owner seemed to have just "uggah uggah' as tight as their tools would go without thinking twice about proper torque specs for anything.. assuming they followed that logic with the studs it...

Replacing wheel studs, should I do more? 08 2500 xl 4x4

I don't think I have any issues with bearings/hubs as I have 0 noise.. I do have some 'clunks' when going over bumps.. but I am pretty sure that is the lower control arm ball joint (I have already replaced upper and tie rods).. I just wasn't sure how many eat the cost of doing everything at once...

Replacing wheel studs, should I do more? 08 2500 xl 4x4

I am guessing/hoping that is the case. This is my first time ever replacing wheel studs and/or hubs and bearings.. From what I have seen I need to pull the whole assembly off to replace the studs which is what prompted me to even think about replacing the whole assembly.. but $2 per stud x 32...

Replacing wheel studs, should I do more? 08 2500 xl 4x4

Hey all, I just got new tires from Costco and I was told they will not service them (rotate/replace) again unless I get my wheel studs replaced. That seemed weird to me, so I tried to remove the wheels myself to see why.. turns out my studs are trash and it is a HUGE pain to back off the lugs...

OBD2 information overload.. not sure if I should be worried?

Mine don't ever stabalize... continues to rise to 180+.. though I did just have a CEL pop on for efficiency in bank 1 and 2 (most likely bad cats... SUCK!).. I can pretty much promise they are cats because I have already done maint on all other possible causes (head gaskets, exhaust gaskets...

OBD2 information overload.. not sure if I should be worried?

Hey all, I just access to my first 'big kid OBD2 reader'.. its from a friend and I was able to borrow it for the weekend. Looking at data I have never been able to see before (or rather.. seeing it in a different format) was quite interesting.. First.. I noticed my cooling is not as 'done' as...

The financial benefits of maintaining our own cars

As a young guy (36).. who is in a unique position (my wife and I have a house on the same property as my parents) which helps alleviate some of the dumb money decisions we made early on.. we are fortunate that we always have at least 1 spare vehicle during long repairs. This alone helps. I was...
