I Know, I Know... Not another P0300 Question

I hear ya. it’s hell everytime you bump into something while lying underneath it to do any work. You always have to be prepared for showers of salt, dirt and rust in your eye and ears. And of course, be sure to sweep the garage floor afterwards…. Everytime that I work on it I put a dustpan full...

I Know, I Know... Not another P0300 Question

Absolutely o_O …… This truck is on its final rodeo. It’s too bad, because the engine and tranny ain’t ready to give up, but the bones already have.

I Know, I Know... Not another P0300 Question

Finished the new fuel pump installation and got everything buttoned-up. Problem resolved! In fact, it runs even better than it did before. Needless to say, it appears that Ohio’s salt and brine trucks will have one final winter to complete their assault on this ole truck. Thank you again to all...

I Know, I Know... Not another P0300 Question

I took the fuel pump housing apart this morning, only to find a pile of rust and a disturbing looking filter. As crappy as that sounds, heck, this just may in fact be the root cause of the acceleration/fuel pressure drop issue afterall.

I Know, I Know... Not another P0300 Question

I was wondering if anyone would notice that. After climbing underneath the truck on a cold wet floor, what seemed like 100 times, clothes inundated with gas from a tank line that decided to pop out of its holding place, and eyes and ears showered with rust flakes, that little fella’s face on the...

I Know, I Know... Not another P0300 Question

Well, I pulled the tank off of my ‘02 Silverado today. The liklihood of rust scale and water intrusion through the rusted-through fuel filler neck made me think that I should rule out that possibility 1st. The metal flange on the top of the tank is seriously rusted, and after careful de-scaling...

I Know, I Know... Not another P0300 Question

Thanks for your input. I considered the crank sensor, but then again, the truck starts right up every time and idles smooth. It runs perfectly up until 2,000 rpm or so, and then cuts out, surges and pops through the intake when the accelerator is depressed. My understanding is that the crank...

I Know, I Know... Not another P0300 Question

Tonyv, Thank you for the advice. While the bed removal procedure would have worked swell for my ‘02 some years ago, it’s actually rusted so badly that I’d be concerned that the bed may not come off in one piece. In fact, it’s so eaten away, that I’ve even considered just cutting a hole through...

I Know, I Know... Not another P0300 Question

Hi calsdad. Thanks for the input. I did change the rusted out fuel filler neck as soon as I realized that it was perforated. This was the second time that I changed it, actually. The salt and brine in my region is extremely destructive to vehicles. I’ve had the tank off of this truck a couple of...

I Know, I Know... Not another P0300 Question

Thanks for your input. My 2002 does have the throttle cable, but it doesn’t have an EGR valve as the 2003’s. So it’s more of an 02/03 hybrid I suppose. My OBD does have live data, so I’ll try to get those readings in the next day or so. I did just change the TPS this afternoon with an AC Delco...

I Know, I Know... Not another P0300 Question

Thanks for the reply. I actually just changed the throttle position sensor this afternoon with an AC Delco part. No effect on the performance, unfortunately.

I Know, I Know... Not another P0300 Question

Thank you for your detailed response. It’s actually funny, because I live in a rural area and actually do have a mouse hanging around. He’s been seen near my truck, in fact. After reading your post, I removed my front fender support and pulled the bussed electrical center to check the wiring...

I Know, I Know... Not another P0300 Question

I'll check those numbers tomorrow - thanks. When it first started with a miss, I went to O'Rielly Auto and their OBD said P0307 and P0300. I went down the road to Napa Auto immediately after and their OBD scanner only showed P0300. I pulled the plug wire on cylinder 7 and it was dead, showing no...

I Know, I Know... Not another P0300 Question

Thank you for the "welcome aboard". There's certainly a wealth of knowledge on this forum and it seems like a lot of the members are willing to help and share their expertise, rather than criticize. And as far as a picture of my truck goes, I'm afraid that it might be alarming to the eye. With...

I Know, I Know... Not another P0300 Question

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping that wasn't the case, but it may end up in a replacement anyway. It's just odd that the pressure recovers to 50 psi so quickly with just a subtle rise in the accelerator. It's almost as if the pump is being shut down electronically at a specific point in...

I Know, I Know... Not another P0300 Question

Hi everyone. I’m new to the forum and was hoping to find help in resolving an issue that I’m having with my Silverado (I also own a 2004 Tahoe with the same engine). If you have time to read this post and have any suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate your help. I’ve got a 2002 Silverado with a...
