    2014 PPV Front Seat Replacement

I went a different direction with this issue, I bought new leather seat covers, and seat bottom foam from The Seat Shop, then bought OE GM back foam. I did this back in March 2021, and the seats are as comfy as any truck seat I've sat in, and are holding up great. We have over 60k on the truck...

2014 Tahoe SSV - Cyl 6 misfires. Wires & coil swapped, still misfiring.

After watching that video, I'm going to attempt this repair myself.

The more I've read, the more convinced I am that you hit exactly what happened. I'm going to tear it apart and check on the lifter this weekend. Thanks for the nudge in the right direction!

2014 Tahoe SSV - Cyl 6 misfires. Wires & coil swapped, still misfiring.

My local fairly trusted shop did the plugs and wires. iirc. Delco plugs, per their recommendation. I haven't pulled the new plug, and I didn't see the old ones, but it didn't alarm them. This went from no check engine light directly to flashing CE and stabilitrack and traction control lights...

2014 Tahoe SSV - Cyl 6 misfires. Wires & coil swapped, still misfiring.

Greetings! Started out with a P0306 code (cylinder 6 misfire), swapped in a new coil, cleared the code, it came right back. Runs rough at idle, but OK (though down on power) at speed. Swapped 4 and 6's wires, and the code turned into P0300 multiple cylinders misfire. Bought a new set of...

No horn on 2011 Tahoe SSV. I do NOT have the 6J4 option.

I restored the horn function to my 2014 SSV by finding the two brown wires in the wiring bundle, and connecting them together. Good luck!

https://www.powerstream.com/battery-isolator/ I went with this one. The current carrying is pretty good and I like that it's a mechanical contactor rather than mosfets. It does make a clunk when connecting or disconnecting.

WOLFBOX 12“ Mirror Dash Cam Backup Camera from Amazon. I'm not sure if they're still selling the model I got. I ordered a second one a few months after for my other vehicle and the camera is different.

I just moved it over, and set it up the same way I found it. The Seat Shop's cover had the panel to wrap around the airbag. Plugged it in, and no airbag light. I didn't have any difficulty about airbags.

Yes! Also replaced the foam with their high density foam on the seat bottom, and OEM foam on the seat back Did the upholstery ourselves. Thank you for the kind words!

https://nenno-products.com/ That's the center console I used. I built a little wood bracket that I bolted to the front of the console to hold the ic-7300 at a good angle. Here's a photo while I was working on the seat install. Shows a decent profile of the Nenno console, and the bracket I...

Nice! There's enough of hams with PPV/SSVs that we're going to need our own forum. ;)

None of the radio wiring was left. There was 4 holes in the roof, all plugged with a plastic plug and some kind of adhesive. GM bonded the vehicle, including a big fat braided ground from the engine to the chassis. The supplemental manual describes the wiring, and the bonding. I'm currently...

Thanks for the kind words! I have operated mobile with the capacity hat on, though I no longer leave it on most of the time. Most of my operating is stationary from parks. We participate in Parks on the Air. I am decent at CW, but rarely call CQ. Mostly return others CQ, or operate in contests...

Considering replacing vinyl flooring. Anyone done this?

2014 SSV, has the common hole worn under the pedals. Had a flood in the passenger footwell from the AC drain being clogged. While drying it out, I'm considering replacing the vinyl floor, and doing a sound absorbing install. I found two part numbers, with a fairly significant price...

Great to see another radio operator with a Tahoe. No call plate on this, as our call plates are on other vehicles... but my call is w8tam. Which pushbar did you go with?

Thanks for the kind words! https://www.theseatshop.com/ I'm really happy with the quality and support they gave us in installing the new foam and leather. They sell the seat bottom foam. I could have likely gotten away without replacing the seat back foam, but it was crumbling, so I ordered GM...

I got the Draw-Tite #65052. Since I wasn't planning on having a lot of weight on it, it's way overkill. Does a nice job of holding my antenna up though. Also, had to remove the air dam, and coax the bumper to bend enough to let the receiver ride level. A heat gun helped move the bumper out of...

The stereo in our SSV had been modified by the factory for police use. I fixed it, and replaced the moisture damaged speakers with fresh speakers, with silicon baffles to protect them from water in the door. This job reminded me why most people who do stereo installs are young. Also threw some...

More exploring! During this trip, I found that the front receiver mounted antenna is the low point on approach. Thankfully no damage done. This trip convinced me we needed more aggressive tires. The street tires worked shockingly well, but I felt it was time for a change. Enter the...

More exploring. After a couple trips sitting on the smashed foam in the driver seat, we decided that an upgrade was necessary. We decided on The Seat Shops foam, which is sold as denser than stock foam. Some foam mods were necessary though. After the foam mods, just installing the leather...

We had the coolant tees break. Thankfully it happened while parked, not while driving. I've replaced them with billet tees, so I shouldn't have problems again. After getting some of the necessary maintenance out of the way, I started on the ham radio install. After we got the basic...

We picked it up fall 2020 from a dealership who had purchased it at auction. it came with no center console and heavily worn cloth seats in front, and leather(ette?) seats in the rear that looked unused. Here it is the day (before) we got it. It only had 62k on it when we picked it up. A...
