    Thanks for the reply. That’s what the guy at the tire shop said as well. They want to charge for a 4 wheel alignment for doing it that way even though there’s no rear adjustment. Is this customary?

    I just had a very similar issue but my 08 went into 4 hi and wouldn’t come out no matter what position was selected with the knob. I also got a 4wd system error message. Mine turned out to be the transfer case control module which is located behind the selector switch in the dashboard.

    Just wanted to update this thread. Finally got around to working on the truck yesterday. It was the control module. I replaced it with the Dorman unit that has a programming procedure and it works again. Thanks again for all of the help. This is a great site.

    I was. Thank you for posting it. A lot of it is somewhat confusing to me though. I am going to take the foolish approach and shotgun the TC encoder motor assembly and see where that gets me. At worst, I will have a new part, which seems to be prone to failure anyways.
