    Catalytic converter protection?

With cat theft running rampant around Las Vegas is there anyone who makes a cat protection plate for a 2006 Burb 1500 2wd? My wife is concerned because of the burb being higher off the ground and easier to get under.

    Battery Tenders-Anyone use them?

Sitting for a week shouldn't be an issue. How much do you drive it after it's been sitting? I use one between two of our cars. One, Camaro, hasn't been driven in over a year and the tender is on it all the time. The other one, Mustang, might get driven once or twice a month. I'll put the tender...

AC Compressor not engaging in defrost or AC mode

Dropped off at the shop and they are going to see if they can use the scanner on it. An update on the ac function. I was driving home and switched on the ac and the compressor engaged and the ac was working on its own without using the manual switch to engage the compessor. After a little...

AC Compressor not engaging in defrost or AC mode

So...Update.......Summer is here with 110+ record temps and my AC is acting up again. Started with cool air stopping when at a light idling. Next came no cool air. AC Compressor not engaging in defrost or AC mode

I had the system evac'd and recovered only about .22 lbs of freon. Obviously there is a slow leak somewhere. AC worked all last summer, 3 months plus so it is a slow leak. No obvious leak traces around underhood fittings or hoses. Could be at the front of the compressor or somewhere within the...

AC Compressor not engaging in defrost or AC mode

I had time to take a quick look at my AC system today. waiting on a new multimeter but I did pull the AC Comp relay and jump the two forward connections and My compressor engaged. so it would be fair to say the compressor is good. put a set of gauges on and took a quick static pressure...

AC Compressor not engaging in defrost or AC mode

History: I picked up my 06 Suburban 1500 last year around June (?) 2020. Freon was low due to a leaking low side schrader valve. Replaced that. Had the AC evacuated /filled. The first time I had it done the AC wasn't working quite right so we replaced the low pressure cycling switch and the...

2011 Tahoe White/Blue Smoke on Startup, Dealer Says New Engine

Only way I know of is to take the valve cover off and check the drain holes and PCV for build-up or clogging. If you google 5.3 smoke on start-up you will find lots of posts. GM did an update to the driver side valve cover.

Do the valve cover check. I have a 2006 but it also had a thick puff of smoke on start up. 152K miles. I added half a can of Seafoam to the crankcase and it seems to have done a good job of clearing the smoke problem so far. It has only done once again since adding the Seafoam. I am due for an...
