Are all the gasoline engine issues just on the 6.2?

I think this may be part of the answer: demographic biases. I think there is a higher percentage of owners on here vs. “the average Tahoe/Yukon/Suburban owner” who: 1) Internationally purchased the 6.2L for the power; 2) Do their own work, and thus look up and share more hints & woes; and 3)...

GM to stop sharing data with LexisNexis and insurers

Further on the ‘02; it wasn’t even 3g, it was analog. There was never an upgrade available to make it compatible with any currently operating cellular networks. The OnStar module is behind the passenger-side dash and can be removed. When I pulled mine out of my old ‘02 I installed a HAM radio...

Why don’t my batteries last !!!!

That was my experience with Optima yellow tops in the early 2000s. My 02 Tahoe had yellow tops (eventually dual yellow tops) that lasted almost 8 years first round, 4 or 5 on the second round, and just out of warranty the last time before I got the 09. Manufacturer quality is not the same...

Why the switch to big rims?

I’m happy in pothole-prone Washington with 17” rims on both my 09 Tahoe 6.2L and my 10 Suburban 2500. I would like better brakes, but between potholes and having one daughter on the other side of Snoqualmie Pass keeps me in chain-ready rims.

I “AT4-XL’ed” my Denali with one simple trick!

Did you do the A-posts / upper leading edge of the front doors and the leading portion of the roof? That’s where my last 3 vehicles all picked up chips (with clear bra installed in the traditional spots). I’m not advocating clear bra the whole truck, but roadway surfaces aren’t maintained like...

6.2 gas vs. 3.0 Duramax, which one to buy?

Wow. My 02 dash (and whole truck) went away at 18 years with an intact dash and no leaks in the headlights. Saw many 900s with fogged headlights & taillights though mine have been free of that (except for an aftermarket set).

6.2 gas vs. 3.0 Duramax, which one to buy?

I’m asking more than stating, but did the GMT900 series dashes start cracking within the first 3 years? My 2010 was already cracked when I got it in 2018, but my 2009 was still good in 2019. And my 2002 went to the salvage yard with all of its interior plastics intact and no leaks in the...

    Towing with a 5.3 Tahoe

As others have pointed out, the engine can do it but the suspension, transmission, and brakes may be the more critical elements. I towed a 27’ toy hauler travel trailer with my 02 Tahoe. Yes, it’s an older 5.3L but the engine did the job, though there were other costs: bent the rear axel and...

6.2 gas vs. 3.0 Duramax, which one to buy?

No kidding. I’ve owned 5 SUVs and I’ve never purchased any of them wishing it were a van, yet GM seems to think that’s the style people want now?

How to identify LT vs LTZ on 2016 Tahoe?

One of the first things I try to get off my trucks: complete debadge followed by dechrome as time & funds permit. My wife was once told by a cop that nice condition upper package vehicles increase the risk of carjacking / bump & rob. It’s totally anecdotal without any data … and not really why...

    The Art of Towing

When I first got my 26' Toy Hauler I puled it with my 2002 Tahoe (I had previous trailer experiences). It did it, but it wasn't a great match and eventually buying the much older Suburban 2500 as a tow rig (for $3k) made such a huge difference. That said, I did tow it with the Tahoe several...

Someone stole gas from me and now my engine runs weird?

X2 but to be safe I’ll ask if the tank was drained to near empty prior to either of those two fill ups. Along the lines of the paranoia suggestion; have you tried it again with the gas you were using before?Has it improved / returned to normal, worsened or stayed the same since those two tanks?

2009 Tahoe LTZ fender flares. HELP!!!

Resurrection of an old thread … Did you end up finding a solution? I don’t have the rust but still want to add fender flares. My 2010 Suburban 2500 LT has Side Blind Zone Alert, but I haven’t been able to find a non-LTZ rear bumper that has Side Blind Zone Alert for the Tahoe, even one that’s...

Out with the old. In with the older.

Great looking truck! I do have to disagree here though … I don’t like the reduced visibility from the barn doors so I looked for a tailgate when I got my 92 2500 Suburban and every tailgate Tahoe / Suburban that myself or friends owned has issues with leaking. The barn doors are the better route.

Three things I don't understand on current generation Suburban

I’m with you. The GMCs are the better of the batch but all of the full size GM SUVs are starting to look like vans. They’re getting taller roof lines and lower ground clearance at the same time … no wonder the weight is up and the A&C posts have to be so large.

Tips for Keeping Headlights Clear of Ice Buildup?

The funny thing is the led lights do generate heat, but frim the rear instead of the bulb. This problem is becoming common enough someone is going either engineer a headlight housing to take advantage of that or port air back from the cabin heater to the headlights (which would be more...

    2009 Suburban 2500 - Wiring / Harness

I’m impressed they were even able to do it! I’d love to swap out the heated seats I have with heated & cooled. Never considered their value until having them in my Tahoe. But I digress… It seems like even simple programming changes are getting too much for even the dealerships. I had to...

Computers & headlights. None of those require you to disconnect part of the bumper just to change a bad headlight. Stupidest part of my 2009.
