AWD front diff, Broken mounting ear on pass side, Weldable?

Well, the casting for the part in question is a little porous, and has let some oil penetrate in. With that said, it was weldable. I had the AC Balance set at the limit of constantly melting my tungsten, but I had to as to get a mostly clean weld. The job is not pretty by any means, and I think...

AWD front diff, Broken mounting ear on pass side, Weldable?

In the process of replacing my trans I decided to attack some oil leaks. While lowering the front differential to do the oil pan gasket, I found that the passenger side of the front differential has the rearward side mounting ear broken off. I have no idea how long this has been broken, but I am...

Best place to buy a reman 4L65E, shipped or local Sacramento?

Decided it was a good time to take care of the rest of the engine oil leaks. Did the Oil pressure sensor a while back, and that got rid of the leak from top of the engine. Just replaced the crank position sensor since that was leaking. Ordered a rear main kit, oil pan gasket, and oil cooler...

Best place to buy a reman 4L65E, shipped or local Sacramento?

I ended up getting the Level 1 from Performabuilt. They had the best pricing for the better quality work. Everywhere else after shipping, taxes, and core charges were along the same lines for price without knowing what really went in to the rebuild.

Best place to buy a reman 4L65E, shipped or local Sacramento?

The problem with welding it is that since it is cast, it holds on to oil very well. Hard to get clean enough to weld. I can also bet I cooked some frictions since I was on a long stretch of single lane with no shoulder when it blew. By the time I got to a section I could pull off, I was pretty...

Best place to buy a reman 4L65E, shipped or local Sacramento?

Well I guess I did it. It looked like it was in there good, but when I did my Corvette servo upgrade I must not have had the big snap ring seated right. I cracked my transmission case around the 2-4 servo. I need to get a rebuilt trans, and really don't want to get a JY trans. Who all do you...

4L65E corvette servo upgrade, now no 2nd gear

So HiHoeSilver was on the right track. It ended up that I pinched the large split teflon seal on the 2nd apply piston. The OE Split telfon seal that came off with the old servo was in really good condition, so I am re-using it until I can install the new seal next weekend. To keep the teflon...

4L65E corvette servo upgrade, now no 2nd gear

The only thing I can think of that I could have put in backwards would be the 4th apply piston... but I don't think I did. 2nd apply piston and pin was installed with steel cover facing in towards the trans. When I disassembled the the old 2nd apply piston, there was only 1 spring in there...

4L65E corvette servo upgrade, now no 2nd gear

When I installed the servo, I used the longer No groove Pin that came with the OPT kit. The pin that was in my Yukon was the middle length 2 groove pin. It was really hard to press in the cover to get the snap ring in. Could any of this Cause a problem like I am seeing?

4L65E corvette servo upgrade, now no 2nd gear

First starts out normal, but it will get to the point where it would normally shift, but will just keep increasing in revs without any speed increase. If I let off the throttle a little bit, it will then shift to 3rd, and 3rd is good, and then will shift to 4th fine. Manually moving the gear...

4L65E corvette servo upgrade, now no 2nd gear

Alright, fair enough. Now the question is will it be ok to drive it like a grandma until Monday or Tuesday when I get the new seals in (if I can't get any local over the weekend)?

4L65E corvette servo upgrade, now no 2nd gear

Hmmm... make some sense. Hope that is an autozone part... I will pull it off tomorrow. Any tricks to getting it in without killing o-rings? the videos I saw (the few done in a vehicle) it seemed like they just shoved the thing in, and pied the cover to get the snap ring in.

4L65E corvette servo upgrade, now no 2nd gear

So I have had the Corvette servo parts sitting around for a while now, and I figured I would install it while I was doing the trans fluid and filter change. I got it all done and installed, and now I do not seem to have a 2nd gear... I still have 4th though. What the heck did I do wrong...

MM H1 7.0 Retro, Blacked out headlight housing on Pewter metallic XL Denali?

I started masking off the High beam reflector and going at the rest of the housing witch scotch bright pads. I saw Rocket Man's build, and it looked good! I will eventually delete the chrome in the grill and headlight surround. Color match the headlight and grill surround, and Black for the grill.

Increase gas pedal return spring pressure?

Yeah, I have used a device similar to that with my Audi vehicles since often the throttle can feel sluggish. Never thought to use it for the opposite.

MM H1 7.0 Retro, Blacked out headlight housing on Pewter metallic XL Denali?

I am in the process of doing a retrofit on my 03 XL Denali using the MoriMoto H1 7.0 projectors. I picked up a pair of TYC projector headlights on ebay for $85 (my OE units are old and crusty). When testing beam patterns, I get some bad reflection off the chrome of the bowl where the projector...

Increase gas pedal return spring pressure?

Yeah, I know a tune will not do anything for the spring rate. I was just thinking the throttle sensitivity is the more problematic part of my situation.

Increase gas pedal return spring pressure?

After playing around trying to figure things out, I think it seems my throttle requested compared to throttle given is way to close in ratio. The slightest touch on the gas pedal will result in noticeable RPM changes. I don't think springs on the gas pedal will help.

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

The other week I noticed oil all under the engine and trans, confirmed it was motor oil. Initially thought it was a rear main, but pulling off inspection plug on trans bell housing shows it is all clean in there. Tracked the leak to up top to the oil pressure sensor, but my oil pressure gauge is...

Increase gas pedal return spring pressure?

I don't know if it is just me or what, but I feel may gas pedal return spring is just too weak for how sensitive my throttle response is. A slight bump in the road, and with the light pressure needed to hold my throttle constant I end up surging a bit. This is probably not great for any attempts...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Installed NNBS Front rotors (ACDelco) and calipers (New Raybestos)with Russell Speed Bleeders topped with some AC Delco ceramic pads. Also threw in some StopTech SS braided lines. Started to do the SS braided lines at the outer rear axle. Got the SS line in on one side, and installed the speed...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Put another set of shocks on today... this time I put on the Bilstein 4600's along with the HD spring in the rear. It is significantly better now! I don't feel like I am twerking as I am driving down the road anymore! Replaced the front jounce bumpers while I was in the front. I also replaced...

    How to install E-Fans

I keep finding conflicting info when I search the web for coding for electric fans on a Tech2. Many places are saying it is not possible, but the post dates on these websites are from nearly 10 years ago (2009 at the latest). I was wondering if anything has changed since then?

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Wipe the Sil-Gylde on them with front end up on jack stands. I have the wheels at full lock, and rub the stuff in good. Move the the other boot on the axle and do the same. Once the 2nd boot is all rubbed in, then wipe off the excess from the first boot. After that wipe it off from the 2nd. Make...
