4wd not working
I am fairly confident mine is a worn out transfer case. The only other thing that I thought it could be is the transfer case control module. I believe the TCCM sends a signal to the TC (after that actuators have locked in the front half shafts) to tell the TC to supply full power to the front...- hangontight

Sloppy/Loose Steering Fixed!
just did this on my 02 Suburban, went about 3/8 turn total. Made a big improvement! Thanks!- hangontight

2003 Tahoe drive without front driveshaft
I've driven many 4WD trucks with the front driveshaft removed (for various reasons). I'm not going to say its going to help with a bad transfer case, but it certainly won't do any damage driving with it removed. I'm no help on the socket size.- hangontight
