    97' Tahoe issues

High pressure or high flow? The oil pickup could be clogged from all the gunk that got loosened up. It's very possible it's been causing the oil pump not to work.

Diagnosis needed, no compression, help pls

Aaand it just backfired on me on the way to work. I was making a somewhat sharp turn, nothing crazy though.

Diagnosis needed, no compression, help pls

What would I be looking for? Inspect valve clearance like if it's hitting the piston? Like above, what would I be looking for if I were to pull the head? Thanks.

EGR Valve Full of Carbon, question...

Nope. I'm actually dealing with a no compression cylinder right now so not too worried about the sea foam.

Diagnosis needed, no compression, help pls

The heads were just rebuilt from the previous owner tho. You still think it's the head gasket?

Diagnosis needed, no compression, help pls

1995 Tahoe, 5.7L TBI 180k miles "Rebuilt heads" from previous owner Ran compression test, 8=120, 6=120, 4=110, cyl2 was at 0, needle didn't even flinch when cranking. New plug in 2 was covered with soot. Bad tick from passenger side of engine. Bad power, bad fuel consumption. Oil pressure...

'97, 5.7 Vortec Engine, 200k, runs, $450, should I get it or nah?! HELP!

Currently own a '95 Tahoe with a bad tick on the right side of the engine, and it had a blown head gasket which turned into two cracked heads from the previous owner and the truck now has "rebuilt" heads, no idea what they put on there (which scares me). Would it mate up the the trans I have...

Why should I not go fully old-school carbed (OBS)?

The wire left over is the solid green, coming from the wiring assembly. But the connector I bought from AutoZone fits the hole perfectly and everything. IDK, they said they only have one which is for both sensors. Do you know the exact name of the one for the cylinder head? Thnx.

Why should I not go fully old-school carbed (OBS)?

New rad, new water pump, new stat, both temperature sensors are new, as are both connectors and I ended up getting a new heater core connector for the front. So it def doesn't need to be flushed. I have just resolved to beat the crap out of it until something breaks lol...

Why should I not go fully old-school carbed (OBS)?

So come to find out, the cylinder head temperature sensor was not OEM replacement, and it was only using one wire. So after installing the new sensor and connector which comes with two wires, I don't know where to connect the second wire. So my temp is officially 100* all the time lol. I need to...

Why should I not go fully old-school carbed (OBS)?

\ Will do the ridge removal. Thanks. I thought if I get the TBI spacer (between the TBI and the intake manifold) that would make up for needing to get a different air cleaner assembly? I could be wrong, though. Glad to know someone else has been keeping these wonderful trucks in great shape...

Why should I not go fully old-school carbed (OBS)?

Any idea what kind of torque headers will make with these trucks? Also including the TB rebuild kit and both spacers and also a cotton washable air filter. Any round about estimate for power gains? For exhaust I plan on going with straight pipes and these single chamber mufflers...

Why should I not go fully old-school carbed (OBS)?

Changed the oil today. Bad sign #1: had to plow a screwdriver into the oil filter to get enough leverage to get it off. Bad sign #2: oil was not brown or dark brown, but pure black with smell of gas and complete with very small gray oil from the filter but not from the pan. Glad I changed it...

Why should I not go fully old-school carbed (OBS)?

Sounds more expensive than I was originally thinking. Thanks for the offer. Something crazy I just figured out today... After 179k, I'm pretty sure it still had the stock fuel filter on there!! :mad3: this car was extremely neglected. Also, someone put a new water pump but put the old stat...

EGR Valve Full of Carbon, question...

Well I did put a spray can of seafoam through the throttle body per the instructions. No smoke. I am not sure if there is a difference in performance or not.

Why should I not go fully old-school carbed (OBS)?

Project & Daily: 1995 Tahoe LT Question #1: Is it possible to go fully carbed and scrap a lot of the electronics associated with the TBI system? I would like to keep the A/C, radio, ABS, Alternator, etc, but I would be willing to sacrifice a lot in order to make the switch happen. Would I be...

EGR Valve Full of Carbon, question...

I just replaced my EGR valve. When I took the old one off it was packed full of carbon along with the square hole and round hole in the intake. I just sprayed some carb cleaner on the two intake holes and put the new one on. Now that I'm thinking about it, it seems like I should remove the...

Easy on the budget exhaust upgrade.....

Welcome to the forum. Glad you found the info you needed. I'm planning on doing headers ($115) into straight 3" pipe ($200?) with single chamber mufflers ($56/pair). Hope it sounds nice when I'm done. There's so many different ways exhaust can be done to make a different...

Newb in need of advice, 1995 Tahoe LT, Head issues, engine knock

No, not yet. I just replaced all the spark plugs and wires. I think it was #4 that was pure pitch black all the way up the tip. Most likely getting a misfire on that one. It feels more consistent through the RPM range, but it's definitely lacking power. Could be the cats are so clogged from...

Newb in need of advice, 1995 Tahoe LT, Head issues, engine knock

Yeah, just found that out today. Had a code 33. Looked at all the vacuum lines on the MAP sensor, one was accidentally left disconnected. CES light gone, thanks.
