Surge tank level at cold was dead on. Surge level at hot was dead on. Heater hoses were hot. Once thermostat opened the other hoses were hot.
During pressure test I could not find any leaks but pressure did slowly go down. Everything appears to working correctly EXCEPT the sound of water...
So I've noticed that after I shut off the engine I hear a sound of water moving. I really noticed it since its gotten cold and I felt like the heater wasnt as hot as it should be and started to look in to it. The radiator and surge tank appear full. The temp gauge is traveling more than I'd...
So Im back from my trip late last night. The message appeared right when I departed on Monday and then I never saw it again. I havnt had time to do any more digging but Im thinking since it has not reappeared, maybe it was a small bubble that worked its way out? Maybe the sensor acting right...
Do we know what the pressure should be? Does anyone have a scanner they can check theirs and let me know? Mine was reading -8.8X at idle in park. Going lower with more throttle of course.
New clue: Im only getting the message popup on the interstate. I live rural so I have to take the interstate or other highways to go anywhere. After i clear the message and drive around town, nothing everything fine. Back on interstate for 15-20 min, and service soon message comes up. Does...
This morning went to head out and the message came on again in less than 5 minutes from leaving. Quick inspection around the booster and master cylinder have no obvious signs of leak and brakes feel fine. Will check for more later but does anyone know, does that code C0299 possibly have...
So the other day I did that caliper, oil change and while i was under the hood I was spraying brake clean at the intake gasket and pcv line boots, throttle body boot and the brake vacuum hose looking for leaks. Dont hear any but it feels low on power under 3k rpm and some occasional rough idle...
Sorry, driver rear! So left rear. I cant believe i did that whole post wrong.
And to add, I just put the scanner on it, here are the results. (I didnt take a pic but brake booster pressure was steady at -8.8X PSI idle in park and went up with throttle.
Oh and to add, I have 800 miles trip...
Left (driver) rear caliper was sticking intermittently. Replaced it last weekend no problems. Checked other pads ok but right rear was done. Had been smelling hot brakes off and on for a while but couldnt pin it down til last weekend. So all good, riding great. On the way home today...
Im think having an intermittent stuck caliper. Been smelling hot brakes but it spun free when I jacked it up. Its in the rear and Ive been feeling like something was funny lately but didnt know what was going on til I smelled the hot brake and the wheel was way hotter than the other side when...
Oh ok, yeah maybe on the belt drive. I was thinking the whirring was the chain drive under the cover. Maybe problem with oil pump. I'll check out the pulleys.
Does the 5.7 have the same oil pickup tube gasket common issue as the 5.3s? I ask because my oil pressure is good according to the 10psi + 10psi/1000rpm rule. But it is on the lower side, at or right below 20 at idle and 1000 rpms. At or right below 40 at cruising. A bit over 40 on cold...
Yeah I hear ya on the OEM but I couldn't wait for shipping. I think I even saw the OEM was less than the dorman, at least at one seller I looked at. Heater return was $58 and the heater inlet was $61 + black T was $25.99, 14.99x3 for oreily's dexcool fluid. It wasn't cheap, I can't image what...
I replaced the Ts at the firewall a while back, I had accidentally broke them trying to put the vortec cover back on. Im sure there's lots of videos on youtube for all this. Time to go to Youtube University... Thanks!
Yeah I am willing to do all that but not before this trip! lol. It is uncanny how these parts all fail around the same milage. I have noticed that from years of reading here and other forums.
Found it. Its this thing. I haven't driven it since wednesday. It was wet when I started looking with the flashlight. Dried it off with a rag, immediately wet again under no pressure. Started engine and it ran down in a thin little stream and saw it drip off the bottom. The steering rack...
Update, the trans shop didn't seem like it was a big deal and they said they put a whole new transmission and torque converter in where last times they rebuilt my original one and put new torque converters in. He said for every 20 6l80 they work on, one wants to act like mine. Just won't get...
Hey guys back at it. 09 Yukon LC9 5.3, 202k miles. Two problems today, for a while my coolant surge tank level has dropped an inch or two with every 500 miles or so. Haven't noticed any leaks but haven't worried about it because it was slow and I keep an eye on it. Day before yesterday I...
The engine speed doesn't jump, or if it does its not noticeable. Just cruising listening to the radio, looking out at flat FL terrain and I see the CC light go off on the dash and feel the CC disengage. I never thought of why until it hadn't happened again until now. No biggy though. Driving...
