All great advice above. As mentioned if I had bought a used vehicle I would absolutely go through and replace all the fluids..drop the trans pan and do a fluid/filter replacement not just a fluid flush/replace like the dealers do. And absolutely disable the AFM either via a plug in device like...
DONT DO IT!….Just my opinion but I recently went from factory 6 spoke 22’s that came in my 16 Denali XL to factory takeoff 20’s from a 16 Denali crew cab truck w the same size tire you have now. Literally the overall height & width are within ~1/4” but gained 1” of sidewall w the 20’s and the...
Make sure you take the sway bar end links off….this allows the lower A arms to drop as much as possible. However, I did still need someone to stand on a long piece of pipe wedged in to get my driver side lower A arm down just enough to get the strut in place.
I recently dropped the pan on my 2016 Denali XL with the 8L90 at 145K miles….it previously had the fluid flush/replace with the updated fluid via the dealer under my extended warranty at ~70K…so pan/filter had not previously been replaced….my magnets at 145K did not have nearly that much stuff...
Mountie - that’s a helluva idea! lol.
In reality it sounds like you’re mechanically inclined so it shouldn’t be that big of a deal for you. I’ve replaced mine twice…both almost exactly at the 3.5-4 year mark. Two braces, the distribution block on top, and as people have said…about the only...
I just replaced all 4 corners on my 16 Denali XL with passive Arnotts and very happy with the ride…much improved over the magneride…mine had also gotten so bad they had basically locked up.
You may not think the magneride shocks are shot…but I bet they are! Ride quality went bad fairly quickly when they were going out…to almost totally freezing up…mine didn’t leak and held air…nothing visibly indicated they were worn out but they absolutely were….replaced mine with passive...
I think Miami-Dade is my twin…almost
Just turned 157K in my 2016 Denali XL. I too bought it brand new and it is finally paid for.
Have no plans on selling it anytime soon. Especially since over the past two weekends I have put Arnott passive replacements on all 4 corners, power stop tow/haul...
A full Saturday of reviving the 16 Denali XL (143K miles). Went full Arnott suspension passive struts and shocks, Power Stop tow/haul brakes all the way around, new plugs & wires (it really IS much easier with the fender liners removed!), transmission fluid/filer/wiring harness, cleaned...
Thanks! I spent most the weekend removing all the rear parts to clean and need the rear cargo carpet and maybe the 3rd row carpet…the rest was able to clean up pretty well..mine was sitting on an incline pointed up so not as much went very far forward!
I have a 2016 Denali XL….148K miles….and STILL on the original pads! Now they are getting really close to the ‘squealers’ but still going! I have a set of Power Stop Z36’s w rotors ready to put on the day it hits the indicators!!
Granted I use my Denali for work and 80% of that mileage is...
I’ve always been one to maintain low mileage oil changes and stick with the same type oil (full synthetic for recent vehicles) with not many additives used - with the exception of some Marvel Mystery Oil in crankcase and gas tank once every other oil change…seems to work well.
BUT, I’ve seen...
The real problem with E10-E15 is it absorbs water - in particular if the vehicle sits for any length of time and temperature varies.
Being highly hygroscopic, ethanol will enable whatever fuel it's blended with to absorb more water. Water in fuel is rarely a good thing, and causes a number of...
I’m curious to see what kind of responses you get for the rears. The Monroe’s for the front w shock sims seems to be a popular option and you can get them on Amazon now for $111ea.
Monroe Shocks & Struts Quick-Strut 139104 Strut and Coil Spring Assembly...
On my 2016 Denali I recently started getting a Onstar message at every start up that said “this vehicle is in demonstration mode contact Onstar for more information”...this is a common tactic of Onstars to get you to contact them for a sales pitch. I pressed the Onstar button and asked them to...
Had a similar experience in MO but worse....Friday before Halloween going home from IL on I-70...deer jumped off embankment right in front of me going nearly 80mph....needless to say $24K+ in damages...every airbag in the vehicle went off EXCEPT the steering wheel bag...all the curtain bags down...
Welcome! What part of Mid-MO are you in? I’m in Columbia! Definitely looks as though someone has installed a ‘front leveling kit’ on it...usually just a 1-1/2 ~ 2” spacer on the front.
As far as tint...I have 5% over factory tint on all windows behind driver/passenger (looks very dark from...
When I bought my 15 Denali XL I had checked extended warranty prices through my credit union when I checked on financing. I believe their cost was the best at the moment and I definitely was going to get an extended warranty due to using the Denali for work putting ~40-50K annually on a...
5% (limo) over factory tint on all ‘rear’ windows, 35% on driver/passenger and windshield. Wish I would have went darker in the windshield! You can not tell the windshield has tint on it night or day in the driver seat but it makes a HUGE difference on eye strain during sunny days and really...
