    The end of the story goes like this. The 3-4 clutch was pretty well gone, most of the seals were completely worn out. The relatively new fluid had definitely taken on some material from within the trans. Took it to a shop where they went through the whole thing and rebuilt with new clutches...

    Nope, no rebuilds. Just regular transmission services from yours truly. With it being just 4th gear I thought I had a decent plant of attack with changing the servo seals and the solenoids to eliminate that but now I've lost 3rd and I'm thinking it may be the 3-4 clutch. We'll see.

    Have an issue related to 4th gear in my 4L65. Truck has ~250k miles so it may mean full rebuild but this doesn't seem like the band is completely gone. Only trans mods are Corvette 2nd gear servo and a Superior Billet 4th gear servo. Leaving from a dead stop truck drives completely normal...

    Don't need air for that stuff. I put mine on the ground, pop the center cap and hit it with either of my cordless impacts, crappy old Craftsman or my new Milwaukee 12v stubby. Before impacts a 4ft piece of conduit over a 1/2 rachet did the trick.

    Update on the vacuum reading. Last night when I got home. I put the mityvac on the PS reservoir and pulled 15 inHg with everything still warm. I'd done this before and saw the vacuum go up as it cooled down, this time, it dropped to 14 inHg by 11pm. I pumped back to 15 inHg and it held over...

    I'd thought about the backwards hoses but it's impossible. The hold down bolt for the plate that holds them in is offset and attached to one of the hoses. It wouldn't line up otherwise. Good thought though, I had to check to be sure. Probably just gonna get a new ACDelco pump eventually...

    Yes, did the left/right method and the vacuum method. Don't rememer the amount. Just kept bleeding it and adding until it made the fill line. The vacuum bleed held 15 inHg over night so when cold, the system is sealed up as best I can tell.

    So guys, I had a power steering leak that I was chasing which caused me to change out my power steering pump and all hoses. Good news is, the leak is gone... But only in one direction apparently. The pump is louder than I'd like it but it was a reman and I wasn't surprised when out of the box...

    My power steering saga PS pump whining... buy rebuild kit Pull out old pump and tear it down... Rebuild power stee... Rebuild MOST of PS pump after completely fudging the shaft bushing... Reinstall moderately repaired PS pump because the thing needs to drive the next day... Watch everyone...
