Hi Kyle, I am with you and no I've babied the tahoe, mostly 99.5% street driving. I think my OCD may have gotten the best of me. 2/3 mechanics I consulted with said the tahoe doesn't need anything. I did get the stabilizer control arm bar links replaced. I think I should be good but will get...
So I got a second opinion from Goodyear. They drove the hoe, put it up on the lift, tried shaking the wheels, they said was tight as hell(they were surprised there was absolutely no play)..didn't see anything obvious in the front end.. So then I asked specifically about what the other mechanic...
thanks for the Claification Will.
SunlitComet: Heard back from the mechanic and he said the control arm bushings and pitman arm looked fine....He said he didn't remember what the parts were but said the price difference for moog parts would be minimal. From reading your comment and all the...
Thanks Will, where are you at? Are you including labor in your shop guesstimate? or just what the shop would have charged for the moog parts for a pretty complete refreshing of the front end? Thanks
I am pretty OCD and the flare that is the worst has some significant pitting, so it definitely will need to be sanded smooth. I am open to all suggestions but will certainly take it to a couple shops and see how much they would want to fix it and weigh the cost against touching it up...
Thanks Sunlit, I think I am starting to become a Pain in the azz to the mechanic. I asked him if he recalled the condition of the pitman arms, whether the est. included Poly-E control arm bushings and if they were moog parts. LOL He is really going to like me now. thx again
So the specifics of the $1500 estimate includes the replacement of both inner and outer tie rod ends, both upper and lower ball joints, idler arm the drag link and front end realignment. How does this estimate compare to what's included? IS there anything I should ask for in specific to be...
Hi SunlitComet, I asked the mechanic to email the estimate and the specifics of what would be replaced. When I get that I can be exact on what is included in the quote to see if it is consistent with what it should cost OR If I should replace anything additional while the parts are off. Thanks...
'99 hoe 4WD, I just replaced stabilizer bar control link because it was totally thrashed. Mechanic also said my steering linkages have excessive wear and Quoted me $1540 to replace upper/lower ball joints, control arm, stabilizer bar, and some other things etc etc. Couldn't remember everything...
Awesome, Thanks Kris. Its great (not great that you had to deal with it) to know others have had a similar experience. Appreciate you sharing it with me. Cheers! I dig your mean looking sport!!
Jim
Jesus, Thanks, what about the texture change? It is a rougher texture in the affected areas... if you click on the photos after you have opened them it zooms in a little more and gives you a closer look at the change in texture. Can that be sanded smooth or will simply re-spraying it smooth it...
Thanks Frank and Sunlitcomet but I don't think these were ever painted. I think they are molded plastic in that color. It also has some pitting which has changed the texture from smooth to rough in the affected areas. Wonder if this plastic material can be sanded to smooth it out before...
Hi, have a '99 2dr Hoe Sport, has the two-tone color scheme with Dark Argent trim. 3 of my dark argent fender flares have this yellow oxidation happening on the flares. Are there anyways to clean this up? Has anyone dealt with this issue before? If not are there any OEM replacements in the Dark...
