It does come out darker than what it’s supposed to yes. But, it’s getting whatever junk is in the engine. I often see bits of sludge come out. So it’s doing something for sure. Now I only add 1 quart of atf to my existing 8 quarts of oil.
Sorry for the late reply. I run transmission oil in my rig before an oil change to clean out any sludge that might’ve accumulated since I brought it. The oil does come out darker than what it should be so it must be doing something for sure. It’s a personal preference and in no way shape or form...

Wut? Last time i changed my oil was 7 months ago. So I would expect that. Every time I do my oil change i add a quart of “syn transmission oil” for at least 100 miles before I drain it. My mileage between changes is 800 - 1200. Usually twice a year I change it because I baby the hell out of...
I When I made my post It was the day I changed my oil. In no way shape or form would 0w-40 oil get turn that way within two weeks. And I don’t any road trips or long drives. Hell I just crossed 12K miles and I’m the original owner. I’m sticking with the dealership didn’t change my oil and...
Something for people to keep an eye out on when you take your rig in. My rig passed two weeks ago. According to them they changed the oil to 0w-40. I decided to do an oil change (I prefer 5w30 in my rig). I feel my rig runs better with said oil. Maybe it’s a placebo effect but I can notice...
Just leaving this here…
For those who don’t know this guy was one of the first people credited people (Look up his creds) to say that running “0-20w” oil in our rig was a terrible idea.
question in regards to the gauges…I’d assume you can only include 1 temperature gauge at a time? I like the ability of seeing the engine oil temp which is cool. I’m renting a 2025 SLT. I haven’t really messaged around with the cluster. Hopefully for owners it allows full customization.
The...
Sorry for the late reply. thank you for the info. The serpentine belt has been the same belt since I brought the car. I’ll look into changing it. Hopefully that removes a bit of sound.
sorry for the late reply. As far as mechanically things are good. I just hear the knock either on the valve body or somewhere around the valve body. Also, it’s difficult to place a label on the second sound that has me a bit confused on. It’s like something opens and closes. It’s hard to...
This might answer your doubts. The dude is a board certified oil specialist and talks about how he helped gm in a study with showing proof of said study.
No one is saying “babying” their car. I said “take care of your car, it isn’t a race car” hell theres a dude on YT how has a 23 diesel xl that has over 150k already. If im not mistaken he’s in the transportation business. That dude takes care of his car.
Sauce:
I have a 23 xl Denali 6.2 with 11k miles. I’ve been running 5w30 since I purchased it. I said this before on this thread. Treat your car well. It’s not a race car. I change my oil every 2500 miles (personal preference). Add an oil catch can. Do maintenances on the car. Definitely change...
Dealers are only worried about sales. They can really care less about things like this. Only we care about them because we’re invested. GM had to post something to calm social media down. People have been spamming GM for acknowledgment of this issue and finally they did even if the...
Person, you’ll be fine. Most importantly disregard the 0-w40 oil. Go with pen oil ultra plan 5w30. Said oil above will run into the same issue of 0w20. I got a 23 Yukon xl Denali with 11k miles. Been running 5w30 since I got it. I change my oil every 2500 miles but that’s my own personal...
