I got my oil changed today at the dealer and they said they didn't receive their drum of 0W40 oil yet so they had to put 0W20 in my Yukon. I was thinking of waiting, but I was due for an oil change and didn't want to push my luck.
I have a bit of a dillemma. I’m due for an oil change, which I would have to pay for. My Yukon is not up for the recall yet and I don’t know if I should have the oil changed or wait for the recall which basically included a free oil change. For what it’s worth my app says I am at 18% oil life.
Having trouble signing into the GM website. I have been regularly checking the status of the recall for my Yukon and haven't had any trouble logging in until this morning. Now I keep getting an error message when I attempt to log-in. Is this happening for anyone else?
I bought my Yukon Denali from a dealer over an hour away because the dealer 10 minutes from my house was marking them up 5k over MSRP. I got it for under MSRP and have been using my local dealer for all service. I’ve been in contact with the service manager at my local dealer about this recall...
And GM would be ok with this? People buy vehicles outside of their area all the time. Or buy a vehicle then move. This is a national recall and you should do the recall no matter where the vehicle was purchased. I do kind of understand not doing other "brands" if you are a Chevy dealer. I'm...
He made it sounds like once my vin# is opened up i can bring it in. He also said GM has authorized dealers to “put people in vehicles” if their engine fails.
I just spoke to the service manager at my local dealer. He said they are opening up the recall in groups according to VIN number. As of today my vehicle hasn’t been “opened” but they are opening up more every day. Once we are “opened” we can take the vehicle in for the inspection.
Have you started the process of a buy back? I paid over 90k for this thing and at this point it’s not worth anything. It’s likely that no dealer will take it as a trade if they do I will take a bath on it. I’d love to get out of this thing ASAP.
So you don’t think they are eventually going to move to 0W40 in all of these engines? How long am I supposed to wait to get the oil changed? It’s already a little over due and with this issue I don’t want to take any chances with the oil.
This is not what the service manager at my local dealer told me. He said that since GM is sanctioning the use of 0W40 then that is what they are putting in any of these engines that come in for an oil change. Any idea when GM will come out with an official fix? I'm a little past due with the...
This thread has gone in a bunch of different directions but I will ask the question here rather than start a new one. Has GM issued an official remedy yet? Im taking my 24 Yukon in for service in on 5/23 and the service manager led me to believe that I will have to pay for the 0W40 oil unless...
You could be correct. Based on my conversation with him, I got the impression that decisions were stilling being made about how to handle it. I am due for an oil change and I am taking it in soon and I asked him if he would put the 0W40 oil in it and he said he would. But he made it sound like...
I spoke to the service manager at my local GMC dealer today. I was supposed to take my Yukon in on Saturday for the inspection and oil change and I got a text from him that said "GM has restricted the recall for now" and he said he was at a meeting in Indianapolis about the recall. Later in...
I spoke to the service manager at my dealer. He said that they will bring the vehicles in change the oil to a higher viscosity oil (0W400), put on a new oil cap, and then check the computer to see if it has a certain code. If it has that code then the vehicle is immediately “condemned” and it...
