    Broken cargo cover

No, I never did. I found I wasn't really using it that much and took it out altogether. I may, at some point, take it to a professional blind shop or somewhere similar to see if they can fix it.

    Chrome nerf bars

Correct. I was asking about getting the body mount bolts out, not the ones for the current running boards. I've already had the passenger side running board off once when I had some paint work done. I'd just hate to snap off a body mount bolt.

    Chrome nerf bars

I'm considering adding a pair of chrome nerf bars to my Yukon XL and getting rid of the running boards. The boards seem to sit so close to the body that they aren't very helpful for getting in and out. I had the factory nerf bars on my 05 Avalanche (it was the same color) and I liked the look of...

    GM Engineer meeting....mid 1990s

Well, as a follow-up, I ended up taking it to a garage that I trust. They had to remove the entire module to replace the electronic portion, so since I plan on keeping it, it has 200K miles on it and the brake lines looked to me like they'd need to be replaced soon, I decided to replace all of...

    GM Engineer meeting....mid 1990s

What he said. I live in Virginia, so it's likely not as bad as Iowa, but they still use salt here. Add onto that the fact that it's 21 years old and is probably the original and I just don't have the patience anymore to mess with it, so I'll pay someone else to do it. If I had a lift I could use...

    GM Engineer meeting....mid 1990s

OK, I can't manage to get the damn torx out, so I'm getting a refurb from someone with good feedback on Ebay for about $120. My plan is to take it to a local mechanic I trust and have them replace it for me. Now I wish I'd bought that lift. My plan is to send mine out and have it refurbished...

    GM Engineer meeting....mid 1990s

Might give the head prop a try. I have it on jack stands. It's just a tough area/angle to work. I've used my "mirror on a stick" to try to see if I'm getting the torx in there, but again, tough to work with only one hand trying to remove them. I may just get completely frustrated and dremel the...

    GM Engineer meeting....mid 1990s

Potentially stupid question. Let me preface this with the standard "if I was 20 years younger" statement. I'm having a hard time reaching up in there while trying to hold my head off of the garage floor to see what I'm doing. It's almost impossible to get two hands up in there. Can the vehicle...

    GM Engineer meeting....mid 1990s

I guess my biggest gripe is really the T20 Torx. I mean, c'mon, at least give me something I can get a six point socket on, even if it's small.

    GM Engineer meeting....mid 1990s

Engineer A: OK, guys, we need to come up with someplace to put the ABS control module on the new GMT800. Engineer B: I know, let's put it under the hood somewhere where it will be somewhat protected from the elements. Engineer C: You fool! Do you want to make it easy for the owner to service it...

    New guy here!

Welcome from VA. I'm relatively new here, too, but have already been helped many times by the knowledgeable people here.

    Rear sway bar

Thanks. I believe I was getting confused with the GMT800 pickups.

    Rear sway bar

Did all 2002 Yukon XLs come with a rear sway bar? I was doing some work on mine the other day and noticed that I had one. I had thought that it wasn't standard equipment. Was it or did it come with the trailering package (which I have) or some other upgrade? Mine is an SLE, so not top of the line.

    Looking for center caps

Rides fine. Steering seems to be better, but I've only taken a short drive in it since I swapped them out. I went ahead and replaced the rear jounce bumpers while I had the wheels off since it's easier access. The old ones were pretty old and cracked. Probably originals.

    Steering column cover

OK, thanks. I think I'll try to shine a flashlight up there and see if I can contort my body enough to see what's in there.

    Steering column cover

I got a new boot to replace the torn one on my shifter. I was going to try to slide it over the shift knob, but before I did that, I noticed that the large part of the boot that fits into the steering wheel column cover seems to be made of hard plastic vice soft, so rather than try to force it...

    Looking for center caps

Well, when I got them home and looked them over better, there were a few nicks and chips on them and one larger area, about an inch wide with the paint chipped. I went to my local autobody supply yesterday and had them mix me up some WA9967 Sparkle Silver Metallic to touch them up. Much cheaper...

    Yukon XL cargo capacity

Thanks. I threw down a big tarp and they all fit back there. Just need to get them cleaned up and some touchup on them before I install them.

    Looking for center caps

Thanks, Sam. I figured that was the answer but thought I'd ask someone who's done it already to be certain.

    Looking for center caps

0 Which brake hoses do you use when you do the upgrade? Do you stick with the GMT800 hoses or use the GMT900 hoses? They're two different part numbers on Rockauto.

    Looking for center caps

Yeah. Unfortunately, I'm not getting the sweet deal you did. :) But, overall, 500 isn't bad. I'll take before and after shots...if I can remember to.

    Yukon XL cargo capacity

Thanks, Sam. Looking at the same wheel/tire combo as yours, as you know.

    Yukon XL cargo capacity

Yeah, 20 years ago I could probably hoist them up there fairly easily, but it's a bit tougher at 70. :)

    Looking for center caps

Thanks, Sam. Good to know. I've been thinking about putting some new front pads on anyway as the stopping ability isn't quite what I think it should be. Did you buy the Z36 kit? I do like the look of the wheels, especially with a darker color, like your red. I'm thinking they'd look pretty good...
