98 Yukon oil pressure on the lower side and mechanical whirring noise?
Use a long screwdriver and touch each rotating assembly while running i.e. A/C pump, P/S pump, alternator, etc and put your ear to the end of the screwdriver. It acts as a stethoscope of sorts. This can help you narrow down the culprit here. HF sells these too. Mechanic's stethoscope- Hoesgottaeat2

Are you sure the dimmer switch isn't engaged? If it is dialed/scrolled all the way up, the dome lights will stay on constantly.- Hoesgottaeat2

When you say “left side” are you referring to driver or passenger side? There is a bracket that the rear of the alternator is mounted to. If that bracket is missing, then that threaded hole has no use.- Hoesgottaeat2
