New cam and higher # injectors?

I'm in the process of replacing my cam. I also taking this opportunity to ultrasonic clean the right side bank of stock injectors on my LM7 engine. I got the cam stuff down pretty well (it's an Elgin step up mild cam). I didn't want a funny idle or a higher rpm torque band that requires a new...

    Air pump electrical connection

Thanks for all the info. I ordered 7 terminals, 7 plugs and the connector housing from Mouser.com. Normally I wouldn't get a new housing for the terminals but mine was melted from the arcing/heat. Got a few extra terminals as well just in case. I also bought a crimp die set for my Ideal...

    Air pump electrical connection

Found nothing on rock auto. I found the connector on the Aptiv/Delphi website. I searched under pin count (7) to get the picture of the plastic half that the pins go into. The connector webpage said that part 12110846 are the female terminals. GM Multi-Purpose Connector 12110751...

    Air pump electrical connection

I was using my scan tool the other day and noticed some codes for the air suspension pump relief valve. So I checked the air pump and disconnected the air pump electrical harness. Upon inspection I noticed the power red wire completely rusted away. I've been looking all over online for either...

    Air conditioning compressor clutch

I double checked the pin on the relay for a PCM ground signal. The PCM won't ground out the relay so that's why the relay isn't working. So looks like I need to check both high and low a/c pressure switches next. Going to take a reading of the static pressure on the low side. I got gauge with me.

    Air conditioning compressor clutch

I noticed my A/C wasn't working today. The interior fan works. I checked the underhood fuse and relay. They are working. I also jumped the always hot pin of the relay socket to the pin for the compressor clutch and the clutch engaged. Also the PCM side pin to operate the AC relay works as...

    Loosing coolant. Underhood coolant smell

I'm good. It seems I have a 22840117. I called around to different dealers and that was the one that consistently popped up on their screens. I still don't know for the life of me why the RPO codes and my sticker don't correlate. Anyway it is on order and should be available for pickup tomorrow...

I just sent an email asking which one to use. When I get word I will update.

    Loosing coolant. Underhood coolant smell

Checked the ACDelco catalog @ https://parts-catalog.acdelco.com It shows the following 2 radiators for my VIN. 22840117 and 19256745. Both are listed on my dealers website, so that jives. On the surface it appears I may have the first one listed because the RPO codes shown for 22840117 are not...

    Loosing coolant. Underhood coolant smell

Looks like part # on that listing is 19256746. That part # isn't listed for my vehicle. My Tahoe came with a heavy duty cooling (increased capacity/wider radiator), hydroboost brake, 3/4 ton hitch, etc. Obviously a package option for towing in 2005. I'm sure the previous owner got the option...

    Loosing coolant. Underhood coolant smell

Ok. I checked their website. I got 4 different part numbers for the radiator. The most expensive one is GM # 20935856 @ $465. The others are around $260 each. I'm guessing the most expensive one has both transmission and oil side tanks. I'll give the parts dept a call tomorrow and see if that is...

    Loosing coolant. Underhood coolant smell

I'm sorry. When you said "part number is Cold Case GMT569A" I was expecting a GM part number. Can you please rephrase that? I also have a local dealership gmpartsnow.com. It's Berger Chevrolet in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Largest Chevy dealer in Midwest afaik. They give me a veterans discount and...

    Loosing coolant. Underhood coolant smell

Hmm interesting. But I replaced the tube and o-rings some time ago when I did the head gaskets. The back side of the intake didn't have a tube...just a couple block offs which I replaced the o-rings as well. I think the best course of action is to just black light the whole system, pressure...

    Loosing coolant. Underhood coolant smell

I think you're referring to a radiator pressure tester. I don't have one. I looked at the Mityvac kits and they are rather expensive with all the attachments and such. Last time I used a rental it looked iffy and abused by previous renters. I didn't trust it...but it did show it leaking down if...

    Loosing coolant. Underhood coolant smell

Wow! 270k miles. I wonder if it had been replaced before...say maybe around 175k? That's a long time. But I guess with proper coolant changes anything is possible. Never seen that with my previous 5.7 or 4.3 liter engine radiators. You're probably right. Time to invest in an appropriate...

    Loosing coolant. Underhood coolant smell

Your knowledge of ancient Greek is impressive. I've done my fair share of replacing parts without adequate diagnosis. Can you please expound? Thanks!

    Loosing coolant. Underhood coolant smell

It has 202,000 miles on it. Bought it one owner in 2015 with 130K. The only thing rusted out is the rocker panels, torsion bars, a bit of the frame and all brake lines (that's another project). It's been babied and garaged most of it's life but I have towed an 8000 lb RV and 4000 lb boat about...

    Loosing coolant. Underhood coolant smell

Yeah that. I put my nose around the driver's side tank and that's where the smell is strongest. Looks like it might be time for a new radiator. But I'll check a few things before splurging. Any chance the coolant got into the oil or transmission fluid? I hope not. Thanks

    Loosing coolant. Underhood coolant smell

Guess I can remove the radiator, block off some ports and pressure test it. It's due for a check and fin cleaning anyway. I think it's the original from 2005. I do know that the water pump was replaced about 10 years ago when the original owner had it replaced. I'll put some ultraviolet dye in...

    Loosing coolant. Underhood coolant smell

I was working under the hood today and noticed my coolant reservoir was halfway empty. It was fine a month ago when I added a few quarts. It was just below the line about 1/2 inch. I also have been smelling hot coolant around my radiator shroud/ front of engine area. I don't have any leaks on...

    Rattling front right wheel well

Hey everyone I'm hearing a metallic rattling noise coming from the right front wheel area that seems to be getting worse. The sound only happens when going over small bumps in the road. Seems to be suspension related. Im going to jack it up the frame in that area and see if anything is loose. I...

2003 Yukon 5.3L SLT 4WD Brake line replacement

Oh crud. I bent one of the lines to the rear too many times it seems and the line cracked. Should have used a line bender tool I guess. Any way to buy just a single line from GM? Or just get some bulk line and cut out bad area of line and make a few flares and patch a new section in? I have a...

2003 Yukon 5.3L SLT 4WD Brake line replacement

I'll try. The problem is releasing and fastening the lines in the support clips. Also northern states you need to scrape off rust scale on frame which can contact new lines thus causing abrasion and leaks again. Should, as always, depend on where you live.

2003 Yukon 5.3L SLT 4WD Brake line replacement

Nice tips. I have cut out a few olld lines and looked at clearance. Due to lines being pre-bent I think I'm going to remove fuel tank for ease of routing and fastening to support clips. Overall should save some time and frustration. Much less frustrating to remove fuel tank. Especially if you...

2003 Yukon 5.3L SLT 4WD Brake line replacement

In the same boat with you on my 05 Tahoe. Went to start it the other day and the brake pedal went to the floor. Got out and found brake fluid dripping at rear drivers side wheel well. I found after a brief inspection that all my brake lines are encapsulated in a scaly, rusty mess. I'm guessing...
