Transmission Out, What Maintenance While I’m in There

It's the only Al one on RockAuto, the rest are all plastic. It looks to be priced pretty much inline with the Moroso, Sac City, or ICT units.

Any feedback on the Melling MOGP100HV barbell? Worth the extra $17 over the GM or standard Melling?

Transmission Out, What Maintenance While I’m in There

See List, they're on there minus the oil pressure sensor. I've had the transmission harness out twice while chasing what I had hoped was just valve body issues, no heat gun needed then. O2s are new I have no oil cooler on the passenger model RWD spec. When the radiator needs changed I'll get...

Transmission Out, What Maintenance While I’m in There

Attempts to find a shop that will do the work with my preferred vendor (StreetSmart) have fallen through so I'm going to do this myself. Tell me if I'm wrong but it looks like you can get the oil pan out on a RWD with the transmission out without having to mess with the engine? If so I guess...

Transmission Out, What Maintenance While I’m in There

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I'd like to point out that this is at a shop so I'm paying shop rates for stuff. I'm fully capable of dropping the starter later once it's back in my hands, I'm more thinking stuff that's behind the transmission that I'd have to drop that to get to. As for...

Transmission Out, What Maintenance While I’m in There

Pretty sure I don’t, there’s just a factory block off plate above the oil filter that I need to change the gasket on. It’s a RWD Yukon XL and yes the reman has a billet cover converter.

Transmission Out, What Maintenance While I’m in There

Trans cooler lines (with a 40K) are waiting for after the shop does the trans replacement. I am having them do it to get a labor warranty on the new reman trans otherwise I’d do it all myself. I don’t have an external oil cooler though I guess I should put that on the list of stuff to consider...

Transmission Out, What Maintenance While I’m in There

Howdy, Having to replace my transmission as I have lost confidence in the unit enough to not just replace pieces. With the transmission out, is there maintenance I should have done while the back of the engine is exposed? Heard about upgrading the “barbell” diverter which would require...

    LM7 5.3 with 10L80

It's more of the practical functionality question vs. what I do specifically.

    LM7 5.3 with 10L80

Howdy, Some friends and I have been discussing the 10L80 swap that's available for the earlier SUVs and Trucks and one of the sticking points is the match between the MPFI 5.3L's (LM7 in my case) and the 10spd, especially considering I have a 3.08 rear end. This is an unlikely solution to my...

    6L80 Heat Related Symptoms

When I did the Zip Kit in the fall there was some friction material in the pan after only a few (<5) thousand miles on the fluid which was more than I expected. No metal sparklies but the magnet was slightly dirtier than the main pan. I'll drive it carefully the few times I have to get to...

    6L80 Heat Related Symptoms

Not done a drive with the scanners hooked up since all the maintenance, just last summer when things got real bad for the first time. The shifting weirdness is largely related to decelerating to a stop, vehicle comes almost to a stop then the trans downshifts the final time resulting in it...

@NickTransmissions, do you think the VB is bad and the valves are binding and a new VB will fix it or the unknown reman TC is coming apart and it's a total clean and redo? Thanks

Reliability; Denali XL RWD vs. Escalade ESV RWD

Sounds like the Escalade ESV has a longer list of items that don't fail compared to the Suburban/Yukon XL; headlights, dashes, tail lights. That balanced against the shear amount of tech to fail on the ESV. There appear to be livery packages of the ESV that minimize the tech while keeping the...

    6L80 Heat Related Symptoms

Already done that including a reflash after I put a ZipKit in the VB. I smashed the screen on my tuning laptop and I've not fixed it or moved on yet as I have it setup on the bench for testing my Riviera swap out along with the Microsquirt trans controller.

    6L80 Heat Related Symptoms

Yes, put a scanner on it and checked the coolant and trans temps dash against the scan values and they were well within in the reading error on the needle and the trans was a fixed 4º offset between the DIC and the scanner. I'll put HPtuners back on it at some point to data log it again but...

    6L80 Heat Related Symptoms

Regardless I get shifting weirdness at around 195º. What are the likely culprits that start sticking with heat? Things are fine at lower temps like today a 1hr drive in the mid 50ºs and misting was fine with trans temps in the 140ºs. Yes, I'm a pretty relaxed driver but I bought this vs. a...

Reliability; Denali XL RWD vs. Escalade ESV RWD

I have an SLT RWD currently and I definitely don't have room budget wise to hold onto my current vehicle. Yeah I know... If I fixed the items that I think would give biggest return on investment to sell my current one I'd be a good fraction of the way towards getting rid of those other items...

Reliability; Denali XL RWD vs. Escalade ESV RWD

Howdy folks, With the transmission on my 13 Yukon XL back to it's old trouble I'm weighing the possibility that I have a bad reman 6L80 from the previous owner and no real way to track down who did it for any sort of warranty action. To quickly summarize, we got this SUV because we take people...

    6L80 Heat Related Symptoms

While DEX6 running that hot may be fine for the fluid, I have shifting issues when I get that hot. Just stacking a cooler on it to hold it down during normal driving only to have it act up when stressed while towing is not where I want to end up. I'm more interested in getting to the bottom of...

    6L80 Heat Related Symptoms

No thermo valve on my 2013 and yes I have looked. Engine coolant temps are holding 210ºF with no variance. The trans temp worries me most as it will regularly get 15-20º hotter here by the depth of summer so if the 90-100º trend follows I'll be well into the hot end of DEX6 and the worst of...

    6L80 Heat Related Symptoms

I was up to 200º within 45min of around town driving at ~85-90º ambient. I only have the factory radiator tank liquid to liquid cooler. The plan is to swap to OEM lines and a Tru-Cool 40K at some point but like I said, I'm quite worried about that just masking a deeper issue with heat...

    6L80 Heat Related Symptoms

Howdy, Well now the weather is warming back up, I'm getting the same symptoms as I was before I fixed the missing check ball in my 6L80. Watching the temp in the DIC (scan tool showed within a degree last we checked) and it's hitting over 200ºF in 55mph surface streets with lights. Once it...

    Yukon/Tahoe Tail Light Plug P/N

Looking for the larger 6 pin connector that goes to the body. It's not the typical GM 150 or 280 series as far as the physical plugs look like and the plugs are different pin counts between Tahoe/Yukon and Escalade.
