    Oh brother, shop rates.

Meh, I can't perform my own smog checks or I wouldn't have been there. The leak was a slow weep from a loose hose clamp.

    Oh brother, shop rates.

I'm just thankful I grew up with a redneck mcguyver brother from another mother. Learned how to fix a lot of shit after we broke em

    Oh brother, shop rates.

Nah, just gonna handle it this weekend. It'll be a refreshing job after installing that tranny lmao. Did appreciate the heads up though

    Oh brother, shop rates.

Dunno if this is the right place but dayum... went to smog the tahoe today and technician found a coolant leak. Kudos to him and hooking me up with a gal of coolant but, again, datum. I think i did this before and it was like a fifteen dollar part.

    Fresh 4l60e install

Right about 200k. I'm second owner but the internals looked original (especially those poor 3-4 pack frictions). Was definitely a fun learning experience.

    Fresh 4l60e install

Parts were i think just around 1000 but I had some broken bits to contend with. Tools, kinda depends on what you have already. I suppose. Also, make fiends with the local transmission shop guys. Can be a real life saver

    Fresh 4l60e install

Running smooth like butter. Ironically though, before work, I noticed leaking at and found a freshly worn pinhole leak on one of the tranny cooler lines. I had already cut out the old hose fittings though so wasn't too bad. Already had the flare tool out lmao

    Fresh 4l60e install

Also, how long until I can relax that it's not just gonna randomly explode because I messed up? Suspense is actually killing me.

    Fresh 4l60e install

Well, tonight was the culmination of all my efforts with the tahoe and her fresh rebuilt 4l60e. To summarize, two days before new year's, we were getting on the free way when the ol girl decided she wasn't gonna shift past second. 45 minute drive turned 3 hrs later, we were home, and...

    Inline trans filter

@rdezs Thanks for the parts list. I've added them to my Amazon list and when funds are available, the setup is great and I fully intend to go that route. Sorry for the late reply. Last couple days have been focusing on install. :)

    Inline trans filter

That's awesome. You have a part number for that fitting?

    Inline trans filter

Getting ready to install rebuilt unit. Funds restrictions are keeping me from grabbing a new radiator at the moment. So, I was considering flushing the lines and installing an inline filter coming out for now. Later on I will get a new one and possibly add an external cooler. 3-4 pack looked...

    4l60e break in

This one is mostly directed at @NickTransmissions thought i read that dex3 could he used for break in. Is this confirmed? Also, of there's any other tips that anyone has . I should be stabbing it in maybe today or tomorrow. Edit to add if there's cost effective alternatives to dex6. Seems...

    Trans pan 08 tahoe

@NickTransmissions couple quick shots before I go further as I just got home from work. I think from what you described we're good to go?

    Trans pan 08 tahoe

@NickTransmissions how close would the mating surfaces be before applied force would be necessary? The new harness is pretty stiff so I can try seeing again if something needs moved but the filter looked pretty snug against the valve body.. those specific filters were the ones that had to do...

    Trans pan 08 tahoe

Is that referring to the seal that goes into the pump? If so, yeah. It has been replaced

    Trans pan 08 tahoe

It's a deep pan. Measures same as the old pan with the addition of a drain plug because why would anyone in their right mind omit that from their design specs. Bought the filter under the assumption that it was designed for the deep pan that came stock with the tahoe but as I've learned...

    Trans pan 08 tahoe

Just finished my first 4l60e rebuild and went to put on the pan but she sits about an 8th is from being flush. Appears to be hanging up on the filter. Should I snug it down and send it or am I missing something? New pan but old one fits the same. In a rookie move, I tossed the filter when I...

Knee deep in first transmission rebuild, opinions welcomed.

@NickTransmissions long break. Uses sent the correct bearing on a cross country trip that took it a week and we got a puppy. Haha, back at it though, disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled the valve body as well as installing the sub assemblies up to the pump. Before I stabbed it in though I...

@NickTransmissions I think you were dead on with the bearing. Could I have put the correct one somewhere else on accident, or is it just a case of year selective incompatibility? EDIT: i need the newer style bearing, the kit had the older one. Should I just wait for a new one and get it ordered?

Knee deep in first transmission rebuild, opinions welcomed.

@NickTransmissions I put everything together last night and everything looked good but when I slid the shaft back in and tried to put in the snap ring on, my clearance is short about the thickness of said snap ring (.068). Any pointers on where may have messed up? I'm going to build it on the...

Knee deep in first transmission rebuild, opinions welcomed.

@NickTransmissions morning, hope all is well. I have gotten to the rear sun gear (had to wait on a snap ring I thought I bagged) and I could have sworn I saw something about notching the sun gear but I can't for the life of me seem to find it. Any advisory would be greatly appreciated.

Knee deep in first transmission rebuild, opinions welcomed.

@NickTransmissions yeah I kinda changed directions on the fly with this one but it makes sense. I just wasn't sure what kinda pressure those springs would need to be applying in order to be effective. The frictions aren't 4l65e spec which I guess is what's making this a bigger. I'm hopeful...

Later thought I had was to maybe take off. 015-.030 off the spring retainers to expose that spring just a hair. Feasible?
