Im going to try to find the updated valve covers too and see if that will help. When the rear main seal was removed the oil pan gasket molding got damaged so I removed the pan and replaced the gasket with a FEL-PRO. Made sure every bolt was torqued to spec.
My front diff is leaking too. There is an arm that is coming from that diff on the left side that looks like some type of mount it is wet.
I just would hate to dive into doing the valley cover and find out that my leak isn't coming from there.
This truck doesnt have an oil cooler. The block off plate is pretty clean no leaks are coming from it.
Do you have any more info on the valve cover update?
Well guys after replacing the rear main seal on my 2008 tahoe z71 5.3 250,000 miles the oil leak has returned. It's not pouring out oil like before but it is seeping somewhere I just hope not the RMS again. Im not getting any oil spots in my driveway but I did notice a very small amount of oil...
Ive been doing a little research and I see that these engines have a high pressure fuel pump under the intake manifold that can cause the p0172 and p0175. Is there a way to confirm there is a problem with the high pressure fuel pump??? like if it's leaking or something??
Well Im back again my truck has been running pretty good with no oil leaks since the rear main seal replacement. But I am now getting a P0172 and P0175. While putting the truck back together the only thing I was curious that I didn't connect correctly was the 2 oxygens sensors on the passenger...
Yep. Ended up having to addng a gallon of transmission fluid and now it's reading in the crosshatch area almost to hot probably will need another quart. No leaks from the engine or transmission.
I see what you were saying now. Wasnt aware of that little barb because I never disconnected any of the hoses. But after carefully checking I do see there is a Y that goes to that barb. Just finished putting the exhaust pipe up just got to tighten the nuts then do the trans mount then drive...
Found the diagram..the hose labeled number 2 is the hose I am talking about. Everything from the Bell housing vent bracket is correct. I just seen that long hose on the right side of the trans and I was thinking that it would plug into a port like the hose labeled 1. But it looks like it just...
Started plugging the electrical connectors and vacuum lines back in. Headed to the store to get some wire loom to finish this up.
I'm having trouble finding where one of the vacuum lines went. The short vacuum I connected to the port on the driver's side of the transfer case. Where does the...
Tonight I got the transfer case back in. Actually had to lift the rear of the transfer case over the welded crossmember then had to use my knee and both hands to get it in place accompanied by the trans jack. This reminds me to never get another 4wd.
It was dry in there until I had to lower the rear of the trans to get all the bell housing bolts back in.
Hopefully it's not leaking I never seen a leak back there.
Im wondering if brake cleaner will loosen up the old gasket. I got tired and called it a day. Hopefully someone has ran into this issue.
Also does it look like my transfer case adapter is cracked or is that just the way its designed
what are yall guys using to get the old transfer case gasket off the case well around the bolt holes. the gasket almost feels as hard as concrete..im trying to scrap them but I will be forever
Last night got the rear cover and gasket on. I tried my best to make sure the cover is flush with the block. One thing I did notice was the bottom edge of the gasket was protuding a little too much so I loosened the bolts and gently moved it up a little.
Another thing that had me curious was...
And once I get the oil pan and starter back on what all has to be connected for me to crank the engine to check for leaks...
I was going to try to leave the transmission disconnected so I can see if it still leaks
Thanks I see now. But the procedures only show the process for if I had the transmission installed....I was going to try to install the rear cover then oil pan then once im able to see if's flush with the engine then I was going to mount the transmission. Am I able to do it this way or do I have...
