Yep, looks like a battleship. Big and deadly, but small compared to the floating city aircraft carrier I was on.

Glad to be a new Yukon owner!

As long as there is no play on the inner tie rods then just replace the boots. The boots are there to protect the seals at ends of the rack. No torn boots on the outer tie rod ends then? No ball joint boots torn?

No paperwork. How do you then know that all fluids changed 2 years ago? That would have been before the divorce. Did she just volunteer that the fluids were changed? Did you ask and that is what she said? If it cannot be proven, then assume that it was not done. Like @Joseph Garcia said, the...

Glad to be a new Yukon owner!

Welcome to the forum, from Oregon. On a used vehicle purchase, IMO, the most important info is the paperwork/documentation of repairs and maintenance. Next is making sure the fluids are all up to date. You said 2 years ago fluids were changed. You did not say how you know that. Also, how many...

    No A/C, driving me crazy.

You said something interesting to me. You said you "replaced the low pressure switch". Am I right assuming you are talking about the "low pressure cycling switch" that attaches at the accumulator/drier? Then you said, "jumped the low pressure connector to no avail". I am assuming you jumped with...

    6.2 Engine Replacement

You can travel to non salt states, Like here in Oregon, and buy. Even with travel expenses, the price is worth it. I have made offers here, for a price, I will inspect the GMT800 for the buyer.

    Starter Rebuild

Just replace the whole assembly, like @6speedblazer said. The socket would be a female torx and likely like an E 5.5 or E5. The ends of the existing ones look screwed up. Whatever you put on there is just going to slip off when torque it.

Disabling AFM without the cam and lifter replacement

Thanks, thought I had heard of something like that before but did not concern me, so I forgot about it.

So, then according to your vehicle purchasing habits, we/I should only see you posting here about 24, 25 and 26 years, correct. Soon to be 25, 26 and 27 years. That way you can avoid having to see my posts. Hope that helps your anxiety of seeing my posts. Have a nice day.

Disabling AFM without the cam and lifter replacement

I never thought I would be asked this by my landlord. He owns a 5.3 powered 2018 Suburban 4x4. No problems but he has heard me talk about AFM problems. I know you can plug a Dongle in to the DLC but is there not a way to program the AFM off and can it be done with an Autel or Foxwell scanner or...

Because I do not just read at or comment at the GMT800 series trucks and SUV's. I was in the shops 40+ years and saw the newer stuff in the shops on a more constant basis. The Gmt400 and GMT800 series are known for their reliability and being workhorses. They do not have all the China software...

How are you ever going to know "the absolute truth" about the newer trucks and SUV's unless you watch out for my reviews? I am doing a service here. Your appreciation is appreciated.

Delayed shifting after throttle body cleaning

I take my throttle body completely off the upper intake and always use a new seal. I also do not spray the fluid on the throttle body. I use completely clean rags and/or Q-tips for tight places. I also clean both sides and open the plate approximately 3/8" and use a small piece of light wood to...

There are just some days I wish I didn't turn wrenches

I have seen them at Amazon. Thinking about getting the thick large set of 3. Trading the plastic hooks for the metal hooks would be easy. I have gobs of the black rubber bungee cords around with the metal hooks. Just tired of the cloth ones I have, sliding off all the time.

There are just some days I wish I didn't turn wrenches

Was gonna relax and watch the NASCAR Truck Race at North Wilkesboro Raceway. My landlord had other ideas. Called me and asked how to jump start his wife's 2022 Toyota Highlander Limited Hybrid. He said it started and moved this morning but had doors and rear hatch left open, like usual, and now...

A reset/recal may be needed after any a/c work and not just a recent one for any other reason, like the blend door. Key word is "may".

There are just some days I wish I didn't turn wrenches

So far, the hernia doctor has said it is an inguinal hernia on the right side but I actually am feeling the slight tug feeling and the sharp pain, on the left now too but not near as bad as mine felt the other day. I did the work needed to swap out my alternator on my Tahoe. Apparently...

There are just some days I wish I didn't turn wrenches

Sorry been so slow lately with posts about vehicle work. Between now and 05/28/27, I have 12 medical appointments and a hernia operation thrown in for good measure. My wrenching days may be numbered. Depends on the severity of the hernia operation. I have all my tools up for sale here and at FB...
