For the ignition, check the distributor cap and rotor for corrosion or cracks. Test the wires for arcing by misting them with water while the engine is on (in a dark place of course). Check the plugs for cracked/bridged electrodes or any other oddities.
As far as injectors though, theres really...
I would check the whole ignition system out, and do a compression test just to make sure its not something internally thats causing issues. But from what you've said, this may be hard to track down... The truck will run rough without a MAF input, but nowhere near that rough, and it would still...
The transfer case always spins the shaft. The only thing you can change from the transfer case is whether it's in high or low range. The actuator that engages 4WD is on the front diff case, and that controls the 4WD. When you're in 2WD, the front driveshaft is still spun by the t-case, but isn't...
Alrighty then, well that helps narrow things down a little. So you're saying in park/neutral it'll rev normally to any rpm, all the way up to redline. And in gear it struggles to get past 3500?
It's pretty straight forward. Only 4 bolts per side. Three hub mount bolts, and the CV axle nut. Remove all of those, and use a hub puller to yank it off.
Yeah all that carbon is normal unfortunately. You can thank US emissions standards for that... As for the 3500 rpm issue; yes, the pre ignition fuel pressure seems quite low IIRC. Even though it idles fine and runs properly at a round 60 psi at idle, the pump may not be able to keep up with the...
Unfortunately, not fully. Thats the only gripe I had about this grille. The bow tie is recessed into the grille on each side, but the top and bottom edges are left open. It still looks alright, but I wish it had the full recessing of the stock grille, just looks cleaner IMO. But hey, $150 for...
Installed my new front bumper today, after over a year of driving with this crappy front end:
DSC03216
I now have a nice new looking front end: :party33:
DSC05256
Also, i remember somebody asked about the repro grille from LMC fitting properly or not. it fits just fine.
Almost every obs truck ends up like this. The drivers side is almost always a few hundred pounds heavier with driver/fuel, after more than a decade it causes the suspension to sag.
Our trucks have sensors for air, fuel, exhaust, pressures, temperatures, liquids, and speeds. everything else, were kinda SOL for buddy. As usual, auto zone's employees chiming in with their enormous knowledge. Oh wait....
Definitey not for 2K. My whole basis for not paying 2k would be that 1) a running tahoe commonly sells for around this price and 2) If the engine doesn't run, you have no clue IF the engine is even repairable (cheaply), and have no way of checking the transmission, transfer case, and front/rear...
It is a repro, can tell just by looking it is that the tooling is slightly different, such as around the emblem area.. But otherwise, it looks to be of good quality. Ill be installing it after the NATO summit this weekend, I'll post pics etc. of the build in a new thread.
Truck parts by CenzoBear, on Flickr
I finally got all the parts i need from LMC Truck to repair my front end! Now all I'm waiting on is the headlights and parking lights/ turn signals from Rock Auto. Then, I have to find a shop that'll remove the front bumper for me. nobody wants to do it...
I'm just saying, I had the kick for 5 years. No problems. Im sure it jerks a little too when shifting from drive to reverse, etc. Those are all 'traits' of an OBS chevy... Like somebody said, the trans could go today or last you to 250k. Thats a chance item. However, it seems okay so far. Where...
Because you KNOW one day you will eventually (most likely by accident) knock it into 4WD. And when that happens with separate ratios, you're up shit creek.
Dou you mean 4WD with two different ratios? Well the front tires would be pulling the front of the truck at a faster rate than the rear tires. Especially because the ratios are so far apart. This is a fully locked system so all the force of two separately geared drivetrains will be put on the...
Hello and welcome! Glad to see a potential owner!
here's the down low...
Pro's:
they're powerful, hardy, and useful. They can tow a LOT more than you think, the 350 vortec can run forever in not-so-perfect condition. Easy to repair and maintain by yourself. Most issues are sin=mple and easy to...
