I just changed the oil in my 24 Tahoe with 6.2L. I’m on the list and considered going with 0-w40. Dealership recommended against it even though that’s the fix. Because of the warranty

What was the maintenance habits, driving habits and towing habits of the failed vehicles.
How often was the oil changed?
Was it 5000, 7500 mile intervals?

The dealer is correct about the constraints though. If I wanted a HC delux, I would probably have been out of luck.

Gm should offer a buyout of the current L87 equipped/ affected vehicles deducting costs for mileage. Offer replacement vehicles if desired at employee pricing. Gm can then repair the vehicles at their own pace and get good will from their customers and sell the repaired vehicles when ready.

I get that. But imagine I get an oil change 150$ out the door. Loss of my car for a day only to get the letter the next day for the recall. That’s why I’m pissed.
This recall is bs. I have two that fit the requirements. Both are comming up on needing an oil change. I don’t want to drop 150$ on each just to get the letter for the recall oil change.
