I've been using these charging cradles from ProClip USA for a while now in a couple of vehicles, so one was definitely going in the wife's new Suburban. They are not cheap, but then again, what was the price of the Suburban? :boti:

An Apple Lightning cable plugs into the bottom the cradle (actually via a pass-through) and your phone plugs into it. There are a number of versions to accommodate phones with/without cases - and they have a version that comes with it's own cables, etc.

The only vehicle specific mount which appears to be available at this point for the '15 body style is from ProClip - they have versions for both the LT & LTZ console style (or the GMC equivalent) and it clips onto the center console - with a left-side and right-side version. I'd like a mount that would be up higher on the console, but there really is not a good place for a hard-mount on the new style.

Since Apple does not make a black Lightning cable, and I was reusing a cradle from a past vehicle that required the Apple cable, I picked up a can of black PlastiDip and sprayed the cable black so it would blend in.

I pulled the rubber floor liner out of the center console and then removed the 5 screws to remove the bottom panel to allow access to run the cable

By pulling up a bit on the edge of cup-holder panel I was able to insert the USB-end of the cable and fish it down where I could access it from the removed center console panel. I had planned to cut a small notch in the edge of the panel for the cable to come through, but there was enough play in the panel to secure it back without needing to notch.

That's a neat write-up. Thanks! I believe for the LS owners there is also a mount to go above the factory radio. Does not work with the touchscreen because of the moving parts.

You're correct for the base LS models - thought that seems more appropriate for a GPS mount vs. phone as it would be more than at arms reach away..... not that we need to have our hands on the phone, but.... ;)

How much $$$?

The cradles vary from $40 (no charging option) to around $60 when you use your own Apple Lightning cable to $80 with an integrated cable & a USB/+12V charger.

The vehicle specific mount is $30, so you're looking at ~$100 to get it done. ProClip does have 10% coupons pretty regularly.

Note, I have no connection with ProClip other than being a satisfied user of their products for a number of years now. The cradle itself is actually made by a European company - Brodit - and ProClip is the distributor (and rebadges) them here in the US.

I just ordered one for $70ish... I contemplated it for a few hours asking myself if I was really going to spend $70 on a phone mount.... Went ahead and pulled the trigger. It was shipped out today so we'll see how it goes...

This is in a Tahoe right? The lights around my buttons for the radio/ac are red in my Yukon. I like the blue....

Well, a Suburban.... yeah, seems the GMC is red, Chevy is blue..... wish I'd paid more attention to that earlier - my Wolfpack Red would have gone GMC (assuming we could have found a used one like we wanted... unlikely, but hey....)

I am also a satisfied proclip customer. I had two of them in my Acadia before and will be getting them for my new Yukon as well.

Better start saving some :)
