Did I miss what specific evap code you're getting?

Although a defective vent valve can cause evap issues and codes, it won't have anything to do with hard starts.
actually speaking from first hand experience, it can and will, especially after filling up with gas

It's much more likely that a malfunctioning purge valve would be the cause of hard starts, due to fuel vapors getting into the intake manifold (rich condition) when the purge valve should be closed.

Can you explain how a malfunctioning vent valve would cause a hard start after refueling?

A malfunctioning vent valve would not cause difficulty starting, although if the purge valve was stuck open the starting issue could be even worse as the warm fuel and vapors expand and the only place out is through that stuck open purge valve right into the intake manifold.

So far so good. I've driven it on three hot soak trips and it's fired right up every time. Fingers crossed

I've been dealing with ghosts too, lil buggers!!!
I just replaced fuel pump control module.
Not only runs better, but the intermittent (classic)... Traction control & that other one are gone. Figure your gunna be there anyway.
It's by the spare tire in rear.
