On my 2023 there's a setting (somewhere under Settings->Vehicle Settings) called 'Tow Bar Attached' or something like that. If you turn it on, you can leave your auto-braking on and still back up with a hitch attached. I just leave the setting on all the time.
Can you elaborate on what issues you're having towing? I've pulled two campers with my Yukon XL (6.2 w/air suspension) and haven't had to disable TCS. It tows surprisingly well IMO. One camper was 33' 7,600lbs travel trailer and the other is a 28' Airstream weighing 7,200lbs.
I should have posted my driving habits for reference. My previous oil change was at the end of January and I live in the south, so the weather was pretty moderate over those miles. About 15% of my miles are towing a 7,200lb travel trailer on the highway and the rest are mostly 15-20 minute...
I had my oil changed a couple of weeks ago and my dealer put in Mobil 1 0W-40 Supercar oil per the recall (but didn't perform the recall since it hasn't been released yet). That cost me an extra $37 or so more than normal. I had them take a sample of the 0W-20 that they drained out, and I sent...
I have an oil change scheduled this week and called my dealer to see if they’re doing the recall yet. They said they’re not, but they ordered pallets of Mobil 1 Supercar 0W-40 and are using that in all the 6.2s. So I’ll pay for this oil change using the new oil, but the next one will be on GM...
Not to get too off-topic, but I've had most of these in my '23 Yukon XL. I tracked most of them down myself because I'm obsessive about these types of things, even though my dealer is great and has helped with some other noises.
I had a few rattles around the b-pillar. Most of it was around...
I'm late to the thread, but this was me a little over a year ago. At the time I pulled a 33' 7,600lb travel trailer (Transcend Xplor 265BH) with a 2018 Expedition Max Limited. The towing experience was ok, but I had a good amount of truck suck and felt uneasy in crosswinds. I also had a ton...
Unfortunately the dealer told you wrong. The trailer camera port is part of the Enhanced Trailering Technology Package, which is separate from the Max Trailering Package. I believe it’s only available on AT4 and Denali.
Can you go into more details on the cooled seat fan? Mine gets louder when I let off the gas or press the brake. I noticed that the alternator voltage jumps up at the same time (from 12v to 14-15v), so I guess the fan speed fluctuates with the voltage. But I wonder why the voltage jumps around...
Agreed. A weight distribution hitch takes some of the weight off the rear axle and distributes it to the front axle and trailer axles. That keeps the rear end from squatting as much and helps with steering by keeping more weight on the front wheels.
I pull a 33' travel trailer with our Yukon XL Denali Reserve (Grand Design Transcend Xplor 265BH). Loaded for a trip it's 7,600lb and has 780lb of tongue weight. It handles well with a Weigh Safe WDH. I feel wind and sometimes passing trucks, but it's stable and never feels squirrely. It's...
I’m curious, what’s your payload capacity? My travel trailer is the same size as yours but I went with the 6.2 because I was worried about overloading the vehicle. I love the 6.2 except for the fuel economy. I’m getting around 9 mpg towing.
Ah, interesting. So it's not sloppy paint, but rather sealant that was on there when it went to paint. Thanks for that info and the pictures. I get a little OCD with things, especially after spending this much on a vehicle. I'll try to not let it bother me :)
