You don’t have to buy a data plan to use google maps!
Ive got a 24 z71 using android auto and if i connect with bluetooth I select the android auto app on the home screen and maps works perfectly using my phone. Should be the same with apple car play. Just go to that app and it shows a maps icon through your phone. Older models may need an app...- spectreag
