E-fans for OBS
Hi guys ,
Clearly I under-estimated the group interest in getting rid of our (OBS) inefficient and noisy OEM belt-driven clutch fan cooling ... rather than hijack Clean95's thread I will post an easy to follow "how to" along with pictures if members with questions need some...
Any local Pick & Pay junkyard has vehicles with the Efans We can use ! Let me know - I can pull you one :) Mounting the fan is easy as the factory shroud fits the fan - I'll try to get som pics in the daylight to post
Last time I went through my air intake to clean MAF , TB , EGR , ect , It resulted in a high idle which was easily fixed by a comp reset . Left the battery disconnected for about 5 min ... normal idle at next startup .
The Ford efan is wired in where the "FAN MOTOR" is shown in the diagram - You need two bosch relays to split the load and a temp probe thermister to activate/deactivate the fan (where it says TEMP SWITCH) which is mounted to the radiator core . You can control the amount of run time the fan is...
From what I've seen , a utility box is mounted there or an aux battery tray . There are mounting points provided for either one already there . I pulled the box from mine and snagged an AUX batt tray from a Tahoe at a pick and pay yard . The tray went right in - direct swap .

Exactly - I had to go back and check my notes but the Taurus has a smaller fan with less CFM . It did not fit the fan shroud at all in the Tahoe . The Lincoln Mark VIII LSC is what my current fan was pulled from and was meant to cool a performance V8 . It is also just about a perfect fit in the...
another excellent fan is the Lincoln Mark VIII fan - this is what I actually used , not a Taurus fan . Sorry for the mixup , I did the Efan thing several times ...
Efan cont'd
... with the stock belt driven clutch fan , the fan was always "on" here in S. Florida heat. Lots of fan noise all the time too. My A/C never got below 45 .
With the Efan setup , the only time the fan runs is stopped at traffic lights or if left idleing for awhile - ofcourse the...

I have a '96 2 door 4wd Tahoe LT ... I got rid of the belt driven clutch fan back when gas prices went crazy . GM was very slow to adopt efan technology. FORD was way ahead using efans on their Taurus SHO , Crown Vics , ect . Back then , the hot ticket was to go to a 'J yard and find a...
front ifs re-gear
@ Thanks clean95 , for suggesting snagging the front IFS along with the rear axle ...
and I would have too , but the vehicle was parted out - it was already a stripped - clean '95 4 door Tahoe ! LOL
@ Bad bow tie , I couldn't agree with You more - the OEM 3.42 gearset...
dynomax ultraflos here
I run a set of the dynomax utraflo in polished stainless steel on custom true dual pipes in my '96 2 door ... 4" slash-cut stainless tips out the back . I'm very happy with them - no annoying drone for me!
rear end swap completed ...
After *much* searching for a suitable axle which wasn't accompanied with crazy high prices , as much as $600.00 ! I ended up using a 10 bolt already pulled from a '95 4 door . It had a sway bar (removed that for my 2 door) and was complete "drum to drum" for...
