Finally got the rear bumper bar replaced with factory hitch.
got a curt 7-pin connector (but didn't come with screws, so need to go get some to mount it)
taking off the old bumper bar, you can see it was actually bent pretty badly, which explained why the old step pad was broken, and why the...
Replaced the steering wheel so I can have radio controls - was way less scary than I thought it was going to be. @jared999 guide > here < was very helpful
Beautiful instructions!
Completed that this morning.
the left-side airbag release thing was a bit of a pain in the ass, but i used the replacement steering wheel to get an understanding of what i was feeling for, and that helped out a ton
came back to this comment - I got a rear impact bar from ebay, arrived this weekend, and hopefully, put that on this week.
Glad i came back to check the rest of the info for the gm 7 pin
also got a steering wheel with radio controls to replace the existing one
Follow-up:
I did a few things at the same time so I'm not 100% sure which was the fix
but I did replace the Alternator and I took out the RAP ground bolt and cleaned up around it - it is likely this was the cause as accesorries unable to shut down properly due to a funky ground can cause this...
well I got that installed - it fit like a steaming pile of shit, but i had to have it working so i just "made it work".

some of the "oh its a cop" looks were a bit obnoxious, but the tahoe was super great. Had this $$$ bmw low sportscar pull in front of me and...

This is the head unit and setup I went with. Looks like I got the pac rp5 you mentioned
I wonder if something isn't connected correctly in this case, because the sound is peculiar
feel like i'm hogging up some of these threads :(
this weekend I took her for a road trip - did about 250 miles and she was beautiful!
she has quite a bit of road noise coming from the rear - I'm bought some dampener material (trying the amazon brand competition, we'll see how that does)
I...
update: front speakers are working fine, wonder if i should replace to match the back ones anyhow
maybe i'll just have to learn to enjoy the weird **** ****
interesting.
I did replace the head unit with something i got on crutchfield --- nothing super fancy, but works pretty great and i'm real happy with it.
I guess it did occur to me that i never drove it and used the turn signal before swapping the head unit - so i don't know if related.
AND i...
