    Unless the engine has major issues like worn main bearings, rings etc. If it's using large amounts of oil between changes or has a big loss of compression, otherwise I wouldn't look at putting another engine in it yet unless you have alot of money to spend. My Dad's 04' Z71 Tahoe has 245,000...

    Outer axle dust shield on CV axle replacement on 4x4

    I had ordered both cv axles from NAPA with HD boots, didn't open the box til I got out to the shop that weekend. Same issue as you, no dust seal on the axles. No way to get them unless I wanted to wait so I carefully removed my old ones, cleaned them up ,lightly drove them on the new axles...
