Adding ethanol to raise octane ...

Note: this thread is NOT about whether or not you/anyone should buy E85 based on price vs range. Short answer to that question is: if ethanol price is 74% of gasoline price, DEFINITELY buy E85, because the No one has yet quantified how much cleaner ethanol burns vs petrol (less carbon buildup)...

    Rear differential swap help

4.10 was very rare in 1500 2WD suburbans, even rarer in 4WD Tahoes. 4.10 was much more common with 2500 & 3500 GMT800, but those were not 10-bolt rear axles. GM was trying to improve their Corporate Average Fuel Economy score in the early / mid noughts; 4.10 became less and less common, 3.42...

    Rear differential swap help

Thanks for clarity. In that case, you should seriously consider it an opportunity to upgrade. Although it'd need reprogramming to correct the speedo and protect WOT shifts, 3.73 should have been the lowest axle GM ever offered on the GMT800, & 4.10 should have been far more common.

    Rear differential swap help

Although I am of the opinion that the mathematically superior axle would break the mathematically inferior axle, YES, different gearing will cause DESTRUCTION in 4Lo or 4Hi, including the part time mode the moment it engages.

What do you guys think my Tahoe is worth?

1stly, no guarantee that going down from 4.10 to 3.73 will improve MpG; depends on how it's driven. 2ndly, even if MpG improves, the 4L60E will not last as long with 3.73 as it will with 4.10, so any MpG savings just goes into rebuilding the 4L60E sooner.

    History of GM Software

Certainly not by making things more complicated while trying to reduce costs of critical parts.

Gotta do a Rebuild, Gonna Upgrade Too

New cam, new cam bearings; don't maybe it. Most assistants don't, unless they are also experienced tuners. When you bought it from GM, GM 'said', "this is the tune, take it or leave it'. You were so unhappy with it, that you went and changed the CAM. If you chose it well - if it actually suits...

2025 Tahoe 6.2-liter first oil change interval

That's why you change the oil & filter more often during break-in.

2025 Tahoe 6.2-liter first oil change interval

Lake Speed Jr did a video about the differences between 87 & 91. If I'm ever lucky enough to own a brand new engine, it gets 91 or 93 for the first 5000 miles.

Gotta do a Rebuild, Gonna Upgrade Too

    1. The rest of the engine is properly broken in right? Until it's tuned to yours and your tuner's satisfaction, no SUDDEN throttle changes. The difference between 0%-100% TPS in 0.1sec, vs 0%-100% TPS in 1.0 secs matters. 2. No remote tuning experience. I've sat next to the driver while reading...

BREAKING: GM is officially recalling the L87

If you feel you must, 0w40 will give you more protection than 0W20. Would you rather possibly void your warranty (likely not)? Or increase the likelihood of voiding your engine?

BREAKING: GM is officially recalling the L87

It's well known that some people cannot be convinced with - and even go so far as to rebel against - facts. (Admitting that I may never be able to afford to buy a brand new vehicle ...) $15k-$30k on a properly-used GMT800 or GMT900 making it to 200,000 without major engine repairs, is less of a...

BREAKING: GM is officially recalling the L87

How about an '00-'06, or even an '07-'14? For the price of a brand new GMT1xx, you could buy tow or three older ones that are more reliable ... ?

Adding Flex Fuel to non factory flex fuel Denali

Pretty much. Think in terms of turning your L92 into an L9H as noted.
