I still have a Gen1 as well. Mine was going nuts all the time on a few highways I drive regularly, but I attributed it to the traffic-monitoring radar that I've read is used in some areas/on some roads. After reading some more about it and seeing which band always lit up, I went ahead and...
Sorry man.
With your engine failing at 75,000 miles, it's that much more evident to me that the idea that there's "only a 3-5% failure rate" on these trucks is nonsense. There's no mileage after which you're "clear" of failure danger. I think GM is going to have to replace all of these engines...
I think he’s using the word that appears in various bulletins. If there isn’t some kind of inspection, then how are they going to determine who needs an engine and who just gets oil?
With a safety recall out on trucks from '21-'24, I can't imagine that it matters that your '22 is out-of-warranty. I'd imagine that their liability is such that they've got to either determine that your engine is ok, or replace it.
Until someone (GM, really) can say that there is a "max mileage" failure threshold after which a '21-'24 6.2 is no longer in danger of failing, then I think that establishing a "failure rate" based only on the engines that have ALREADY failed -- as though no more will fail -- is short-sighted at...
It appears that the oil change happens if the code DOESN'T come up, and the engine gets replaced if it DOES. (Even then, it doesn't sound as though the code not coming up excludes you from an engine replacement.)
How many are "too many miles," and how much is "too much time"?
As of last week, no dealer was prepared to do anything with regard to the recall. It appears that nothing will be done before June, per some info posted here.
1. No. The recall notification is separate from the "Everything looks fine" aspect of the app. You should have a notice in your "in box" on the app.
2. No one can say.
I know it's a lot, but you should read through this thread. All asked and answered. Dealerships aren't prepared to act on the recall yet. We [on the list] are all in the same boat -- waiting to see what happens next.
