    Front Struts non-Magneride type

Hi B-train, I have a 2018 Yukon XL Denali with Magneride and the right front shock is leaking at 78,000 km (49,000 miles) and that doesn’t give me much confidence in OEM. Am I just unlucky? It rides like a bouncy castle now!

New baby, Might have to sell the Tahoe already

I found the second row “Captain seats” in my Denali don’t accept a booster seat. One side or the other rides up on the seat belt mounts. Why they put such narrow seats in the biggest SUV is beyond my thinking.

Muffler/Exhaust System for 2020 Yukon XL Denali 6.2L

Gone are the”Ultimate 22” wheels which cracked and replaced with 20” Denali 10 spokes with Nokian all weather snowflake tires. The ride is better than on 22” rims.

Muffler/Exhaust System for 2020 Yukon XL Denali 6.2L

No, I didn’t have the AFM disabled when the repair was done. The local GM dealer accomplished the job and I don’t think they would disable it. It now has a 1 year warranty, valid at any GM dealer. The repair entailed Replacing: cam, lifters, oil pump, heads out for overhaul (guides, seals and...

Muffler/Exhaust System for 2020 Yukon XL Denali 6.2L

Hi, This old man advice doesn’t help you choose another exhaust system, but save your money for absolutely necessary repairs. I have a 2018 Denali with the 6.2, 72,000 km (about 45,000 miles) and had an AFM lifter failure. That took out the cam lobe, requiring replacement of the oil pump as...

    2025 Tahoe High Country - 6.2L or 3.0 Turbo Duramax LZ0?

I have owned a Suburban or Yukon since my first new one in 1981. My most recent 2018 has only 68,000 km on it (about 42,000 miles) equipped with the 6.2 and loved it until: a lifter failed taking out the lobe on the camshaft. Now it’s in being repaired. no warranty and it’s going to be over...

Yukon 2022 6.2 engine died at 75,000 miles.

Was cruise control still engaged when the transmission started to downshift? I am thinking if the engine is starting to fail, you have commanded the cruise to maintain a certain speed and as the engine loses power the transmission will shift into a lower gear to try to keep the selected speed.

    Wiper Recommendations?

I have a 2018 Yukon and buy the 22” Michelin blades that Costco sells in Canada. There is an adapter in the package but seem to recall is not needed. I install a new blade on the driver’s side every 3-4 months, moving the old one to the passenger side side, enjoying a new blade without being too...

    Bench Seat Swap

One more thing to add to my above comments about 2nd row seating. My 2011 Yukon XL had a bench seat and it was way more comfortable than my 2018 captain’s chairs. You could turn sideways, stretch one leg out flat and even snooze while on the ferry. Be careful and think through your need to get...

    Bench Seat Swap

When I bought my 2018 Denali it came used with second row captain’s chairs. I didn’t like them simply because you lose a full adult seat in what started back in the 1970s as a 9 passenger vehicle. First we lost the big front bench seat, now the second row bench, reducing this big vehicle into a...

    Do these come off easy?

I agree with Matthew, they are to protect your doors from dings. Wouldn’t it be easier to simply mask them off and repaint them? Removal risks damaging the painted surface underneath and you might find a slight variation in the paint due to weathering.

What’s wrong with those tires on the pictures?

Without knowing the history of the vehicle, My guess is like “Marky Dissod”, those tires were on the front axle and have just been rotated. When you have new tires installed, get a wheel alignment so the same thing doesn’t happen again.
