    05 Tahoe build

We had some more set backs. The guy who was helping me repaint the truck got fired for stealing and ends up he screwed up half the stuff that is already done. I talked to the owner of the shop and got everything straightened out and was able to drop the Tahoe off Sunday afternoon! Pictures...

Putting the Tahoe on a diet

I will try to get a weight for it after I get it back from the body shop.

Putting the Tahoe on a diet

With a tune, cai and muffler change I ran a best of 16.942 @ 84.19. With a new transmission (shift kit, servos and other fun stuff), a multidisc 3000 stall converter and dropping weight I ran 16.437 @ 84.95. I'm still learning how to launch this damn thing, so time should get better as I learn.

Putting the Tahoe on a diet

I ran a 16.94 @ 84.19 in the quarter with a tune, MIT and exhaust. I plan on hitting the track next weekend to see what it will do now. I'm also still learning how this thing likes to launch. With this set up it seems to like to launch off flash stall more so than brake stall.

The braking is where I noticed the most noticeable improvement. I dropped 2.5 tenths in the 1/8 mile, but I also just put in a built transmission and 3000 stall converter so I don't know how much is do to weight loss and how much is the upgraded transmission.

Honestly the roof rack, roll pan and running boards were just for looks, but I got the added benefit of weight reduction. The milk crate mod sounds promising though!

Putting the Tahoe on a diet

From what I understand I can gain around one tenth of a second for every 100 pounds I can drop. So far I have dropped about 200 pounds or so. I'm not trying to build a race truck or anything, just trying to build a really fun daily driver. Coilovers are on the list in the near future and so...

Putting the Tahoe on a diet

I figured the fastest and cheapest way to get some better performance out of my Tahoe would be to drop some weight. I have already pulled the bumper and added a roll pan, pulled the tow hitch, spare tire, rear wiper and motor, the hoist for the spare tire, spare tire "saddle", jack, tire tool...

More progress! I got the Escalade back glass, third brake light and another vent cover today. I'm getting really excited about how this is starting to look.

    05 Tahoe build

Thanks guys! My buddy does paint and body work and is letting me help do all this stuff. Nothing like being able to step back and say "I did that"! This is the first time I have ever documented a build, so I'm going to try and keep this thing current. ---------- Post added at 10:59 PM...

    05 Tahoe build

We got a little more work done this weekend. We shaved the rear window wiper and popped in the Escalade corner vent covers for a test fit. One of them is completely warped and doesn't fit well, so I'm going to pick up another one and an Escalade back glass and third brake light.

    Quad Retrofit Completed!!!

Hey Shawn. That is going to look nice. If you don't mind, I would like to come watch how you do this mod so I can learn a little bit. Plus it's nice to meet up and hang out with other truck/suv guys.

    05 Tahoe build

Well I have started to do some work to the Tahoe. Here is where we are at now. I have debadged it, demolded it, removed the running boards, removed the roof rack, removed the fender flares, removed the rear bumper and add a roll pan, had the transmission built, added a 3000 stall torque...
