Just checking in here again. Engine is still leaking worse than ever. Qt a week. Under the truck is soaked. Still runs like a champ of course. My pops talked with a few guys when he was picking up an engine last weekend. They said the motor is tired and ready for a new one. Ehh...
Oil pressure...
Man what a bummer! I had the same thing happen to BOTH my knock sensors... Oof.. Got them out eventually and new ones in. Scenerio was identical to this. Eesh.
Curious on your tune and you're in Anaheim, I'm right in Orange... Smog is a real PITA here lol.
I put a very mild melling cam in my...
Another update!
So far so good. Still hanging on a minimum of 38psi....nice!
For some reason; recently she dumps oil, baaaad. Replaced cam sensor and crank sensor o-rings a month ago... Got worse since... It's just dumping oil out/up/around bellhousing, starter, oil filter and sheeeeesh...
Thanks for the input!! I really appreciate all the replies. This is definitely helping narrow down the issue to attack the solution. Glad the truck is running good! Good thing you have a hood to cover the unpainted block, ha!
Thanks for the input Jim!! That's almost exactly where I'm at. I'm sure the motor is worth pulling to get some new cam bearings in there.
When I did the cam I definitely saw copper, but...
Yeah no kidding. My pops said the same thing. Previous owners, D'OH!!
Like I wrote before, I've had a lot of the motor apart already and it's clean where applicable. Engine flush is underway!
In other news.... My. Mom's Yukon xl (5.3 lm7) hydrolocked in the rain storm we had. Blew a piston or crank. The motor is..... Toast.... Ouch...
Gonna help my dad buy a shortblock and swap the engine. Sounds like fun haha.
I was looking into an engine for mine, now I'm totally against it...
Over the last year of oil changes I haven't gone over 2,800 to be exact.
As you saw previously - I've had the heads, cam, valve train, lifters, oil pump, oil pan ALL OUT and apart and thoroughly cleaned. Looking into an engine flush I just want to be careful.
Last OCI's Were less than 800...
Relief valve plug came in today. Got the old one out with a bolt extractor I found in the drawer.
By the looks of this and the oil filter housing area... I think there's definitely still slugde hanging out in the engine.
Bypass/releif valve appears to got me 3-5psi gain (since last photos...
That's about the same boat I'm in. Did the heads over Christmas/new year, and have done 5 oil changes since. Pressure is still not predictable. I'm gonna try a thorough engine flush like @rockola1971 mentioned...ill do that the same time I install the cooler next week.
As of today it's doing great!
