Its dark out, its cold out & both low beams on 1999 denali went out within 2 minutes of each other. I have hi-beams, so i'm ok for the moment. So....how do i change 'em? Google a '99 denali & it shows me the twist clips & rods on 2008 or newer. Not much help. Do i just remove those 2 bolts that stick up thru radiator support? Or are they adjusters or something else?

Here you go:

I picked up the replacement bulb at autozone for just under $20 (probably find cheaper online) Sylvania H13 9008. Went to toss it in and the headlight would not come out.. I started to remove the frontend of the my wfie's Denali when I stopped and decided to search online for better way... THIS IS THE BEST WAY I FOUND AFTER SEARCHING 30mins and it works.. Took me about 15min.

Driver side: There are about 8 screws that hold the "spare battery plate" (the battery is on the other side this just looks like an add on plate for a 2nd battery). The washer bottle is also connected to this plate by a screw and I think there is a second screw that holds the bottle to the fender wall, remove that. The washer bottle should drop down a few inches at this point. The neck of the bottle can be pushed out of the way. There is a rubber wrap with some snaps directly behind the headlight. Gently remove the top snap and it will give you access to the headlight. The bulb twists out replace it and reverse the re-assembly.

Passenger side: You basically have to remove the airbox, which in reality is pretty easy. There is a clamp at the airbox for the air tube, loosen the clamp and pull the box up and out. this side also has the rubber wrap behind the headlight with the snaps. Loosen the top snap, access the bulb and re-assembly.

Working slowly the whole process probably doesnt take more than 20 mins a side for the first time.

Hmmmmm....so on drivers side the washer fluid container is about a foot away from back of headlamp. There is 1 hole right there. I can pull plug off of bulb, but bulb is NOT coming out of that hole. The headlight housing needs to be removed from the truck. As for the passenger side....airbox is behind battery. Battery is right up against back of bulb. So that aint working either.
You POSITIVE those bolts on TOP dont release headlight housing like on later gmc's?
This is tomorrows job after work....in the dark & cold again...but been searching the 'net for HOURS & have found NOTHING specific to '99 denali. Or '00 gmc either.

I copied and pasted from another site. If you can unplug wire from the back then I would think it would be a bayonet mount and you just unlock/turn the lock ring and then remove and then pull bulb out. Rest is access if needed under the hood. Now I just found another site that says the grill has to be removed for headlamp access.

I'm not sure about the Denali but if it is the same as my 99 Tahoe it will be the same as the beginning of this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfsFGfNcPY0 the 2 bolts that come out of the radiator support need to be removed then the headlight will pop out giving you access to the bulbs for changing.

The '99 denali resembles the 2000, not the '99 tahoe or yukon, however those 2 bolts appear to be whats on my denali. Just got home from work, hopefully much earlier tomorrow so i'm gonna try that one then!

Ok so did it. Done. 8 minutes to do both sides. So raiderron, i have no idea what vehicle you described :wtf: not even close to my '99 denali. Bigal, however, almost dead on. I did have to remove the 2 screws & the signal lite housing to actually pull the headlite housing out. I approached the 1st one with some trepidation, hence the 8 minute time. When i swap the philips 3000k's i had laying around for some PIAA 5000's, i think i can do it in 5

One last post for good measure....having owned my '99 denali for 4 months, i purchased an owners manual on ebay. Mailman just delivered it, i went to the 'headlamp bulb replacement' page & PRESTO! The instructions were exactly as i did it, remove 2 screws in turn signal assembly, pop it out, remove 2 bolts in radiator support & headlamp assembly pops out. Nothing like reading the instructions!
