Ok so let me start out that I have hated Alpine since before I quit peeing my pants. I opened my mailbox today to find a Crutchfield catalog, haven't bought anything from them in years but they keep sending them, and notice Alpine has an 8" DD screen pictured in a NNBS dash. It peaked my interest so I started reading a bit about it and though pricey it appears to me that Alpine stepped up their game which is saying a lot coming from me.

The unit is only available for select units one being a NNBS.

Just thought it might be a look see for anyone willing to spend the chedda, not me, but I would like to see one in a NNBS.

Interesting ... I used their fitment guide on a bose non nav Yukon and it added these components:

Installation Details for your 2010 GMC Yukon Sport Utility with Bose system; without Navigation system

This item fits your vehicle
This integration package is used in conjunction with an Alpine navigation receiver to create a plug-and-play setup that requires no additional wiring. This package includes a dash adapter, as well as a wiring interface that plugs directly from the Alpine to your vehicle.
Please Note: Because your vehicle is factory-equipped with a special sound system, Crutchfield recommends a bypass adapter that we provide. Not using this adapter could make it necessary to replace the entire factory sound system, including the speakers.

Alpine KTX-GM8-0 Alpine integration package $399.99
Metra GMOS-100 $249.99
GM OnstarGMOS-LAN-02 $149.99

Pricey indeed!

Yes I forgot to add that when I was reading you get a new trim piece that goes around radio and all that stuff. I am glad that they did this as other brands will soon follow suit.

Outside the dash piece one only needs one of those two harnesses depending on the audio system the car is equipped with.

Looks pretty clean but I wonder how well the navigation works on it... it doesn't have any pics of the navigation part of the HU operating.

I don't like the way the H/U and trim piece curves it looks very weird to me for some reason.

The first pic I seen of it wasn't as noticeable.

I have never been impressed with integrated nav in HU's.

it has 3d mapping pretty cool and helpful. The thing is, cell phone navi and portable navi are much easier to keep current and less expensive to keep current. In dash HU usually have to get a update disc which can be expensive. Few years down the road, New streets and roads that are new wont be recognized by the outdated navi. Portable just do an update and its good to go

x2 what Sumo said. I don't care for having Navi in my rides cuz I already have it in my phone and I don't have to pay nothing for it to be updated.

Me neither. I'm ithchin' to try the new kenwood flagship nav screen to see how good garmin did integrating their maps on it.

Yea but a bigger screen and turn by turn navigation w/ voice is nice. I have it on my phone too but having one in your vehicle is much more convenient. I actually use a portable one when traveling for work and watch netflix on the screen via the lockpick when i'm on the road for more than a few hours. Portable by far is the best navigation use though... hopefully their superior technology gets to HU's one day.

It won't be long before there is more choices in the 8" screens after this.

The 8 inch screen sounds great but that adapter kit looks terrible the way it is curved. Very ugly. My plan is to buy the new iphone 5 (when it comes out) with 3d nav and turn by turn direction and mate it to whatever new pioneer head unit they come out with that will sync with it. I think that will be the best solution.

I think i an just going to settle for a PArrot Mki 9200 Play ipod, steam bluetooth and cellphone. Factory Unit still works fine.

I like it. Would like to see in person.
I guess it is curved so that you don't hit the buttons and the screen at the same time...?
