I believe that the diesels have a very low failure rate. I have a, friend, a dealer with an import license, who specializes in Tahoes/Yukons/Escalades by reimporting them from Canada (no tariffs since they're made here) and reselling at a premium. He does a large volume. He tells me the that the LM2 has been trouble free. I own a 2021 Tahoe Duramax, an early production diesel. There have been two issues both addressed under warranty before failure because I watched the service bulletins. One was the main seal and the other was the engine coolant control valve. These were quick turn arounds, three days with a loaner for replacing the main seal and overnight for the control valve. The diesel has been a trooper, ultra smooth, fast and super efficient. I have never been more satisfied with a passenger vehicle and the engine is the main reason. I think it is fairly normal to have to watch for service bulletins on first year or early introduction of a new engine or vehicle. Thanks to this forum and a conscientious dealer, I have had no break downs. The build quality on this truck is amazingly high.

not to mention those things die a sudden death, image it happens on a 4-lane, you can't even push it off the road because the transmission goes into park and electronic parking sets and wammo a semi-truck takes your entire family...
you couldn't give me one for free, not a freaking chance in hell

well it is because otherwise the fix is to tear the engine down ask @Vladimir2306 he knows because they are f-ked over there with no warranty period and have no other option
No, it's not. There are already threads dedicated to the 6.2 recall, and we're all aware of Vlad's predicament. If you want a forum to discuss how you'll never own a '21+, then why not start your own thread about it?

well the fix is not a slightly thicker oil, that's a band aid at best, just gm trying to not have to fess up to their mistake
this thread is specifically for 6.2's failing.
The best option is to not buy one, otherwise you asked for it.

if my opinion is not what you or anyone else want's to hear there is a box to checkmark and you never have to see another post by me again.
If I don't like what's on tv I change the channel......
I have to block you? You really can't just refrain from constantly posting in the '21+ section that you won't buy anything newer than a '20? Seriously?

Uh oh. Pre-'20 issues coming to light. Failures before and after the '21-'24 recall window.

no, you can just ignore my opinion and carry on like normal.
my opinion doesn't matter people will still buy these, but it's possible it could cause pause for someone on the fence I believe any potential buyer should be aware of the shortcomings. I personally research just about anything I buy first. If it is big money I research the hell out of it I worked too hard for what money I do have to turn around and be left with my ballz in the wind
can you imagine buying a $90,000 vehicle, drive it a week and the engine takes a crap, then to get told it will be 3-4 months for a another engine, meanwhile it's still depreciating and the loan is still 99% interest,,,,, here drive this pos rental "sorry":mad::mad::mad::mad:

Just don't buy anything newer than 2020 and you are golden.
lol....2015 Yukon Denali, original owner, religious oil changes, never towed, but did very limited beach roving. 2 engines before 62k. Put me through a Paperwork colonoscopy, for the 3 or 4 non- dealer oil changes. Finally approved Rebuilds, after almost killing me in instant, highway engine failure! I dumped it...bye bye GM V-8 's. And I loved the truck......

yes engine failures can happen to any but these are a new problem and a judge just combined all of the 19-2026 cases into 1 lawsuit a week or two ago.
Anyway to each there own. Maybe everyone here will get lucky and have a perfect one.

I'll support you, the problems with the L87 do not negate the fact that the T1 generation is great, and it brings pleasure to drive. So my opinion is that you can't be afraid of the L87. I'm just thinking of taking a new car as an option in 2026, and so far I'm leaning towards the L87 option, but immediately after bringing it to Russia, I want to put it into service, disassemble, refine, and reassemble it according to GM's guidelines, which they themselves do not follow. It will cost much less than buying and installing a new engine)

You keep posting, Wes!

This Forum is supposed to provide information to members, new and old. Opinions, facts, recommendations are all on the table for discussion.

Not for nothing, Wes provides more relevant information on this Forum than most members do. And, I believe that most members on this Forum find his posts to be quite valuable. I know for Da*n sure that I do!

it's all good man, I just have a different opinion on the T2's. I'm sure there are plenty of happy owners out there.
