I called my local dealership today, who verified my VIN is eligible for the initial inspection. In turn, I will take the 2022 Tahoe HC in on Monday (6/16) and will have more insights the next day. As per the service consultant, they will inspect and determine if the oil change or engine replacement is necessary. So net net it doesn’t sound like GM changed direction on the remedy. Time will tell…
Just got the Tahoe HC back from the dealership and it passed the inspection process, oil changed and even told this is just a step in the right direction. The service advisor stated this in not the final resolution but will help. As for this 10 year/150k mile warranty, I did not see anything on the repair order. So not sure where this is coming from on the board.

It literally says in the recall letter that I posted a few pages back…

Just had my 21 serviced and dealership stated they couldn't do anything about it because it has the "no remedy" on the recall. Not even the higher viscosity oil change up. Weird!!

Does anyone know any symptoms associated with the recall minus engine failure?

Does anyone know any symptoms associated with the recall minus engine failure?
There was a Q&A that said the following:

Q3) What symptoms may be experienced? What warning signs may be associated with the issue or condition described?

A3) Drivers may be alerted to the condition prior to failure from: (a) knocking, banging, or other unusual engine noises; (b) illumination of the check engine light; and/or (c) engine-performance issues, including hesitation, high RPMs, abnormal shifting, reduced propulsion, or a no-start condition.

But I’m not sure anyone has experienced those symptoms prior to engine failure. If they have, they haven’t really mentioned it on here.

Previous owners of my Yukon heard a ticking sound and took it into the dealer. It was diagnosed as a bearing failure after dropping the oil pan and finding metal in it. New L87 was put in.

Speaking for someone that is a service writer at a dealership regarding the future oil changes after you get the 0-40. If it was me I would have my oil changes done at a dealership so GM will have records in their system. It's your call but I have seen over my many years when warranty companies ask for oil or maintenance records and the customer cant provide them or wont accept them from a mom and pop shop. And your oil change is gonna go up more than $30 on your future changes. At my dealership 0-20 vs 0-40 Super car oil is about almost $8 a quart and 8 quarts for the 6.2 so you can do the math. Dealership 25 miles from me already charges $40 more than I do on a 0-20 so I cant imagine what their 0-40 is gonna be.

So what's your suggestion to folks like me that are 2.5 hrs away from the closest GMC dealer which is where I bought my Yukon? I have a Chevy dealer in our small town, can I assume their record keeping would be acceptable if I use them instead of the shop I have normally used. The Chevy dealer only does warranty work on Chevy and Buicks, the only brands they sell.

If they are a GM "dealer" of any kind, their records are viewable within the system.

The extended warranty will be stated in the recall notice you receive from GM

Apologies if this has been addressed, I did a search of this thread and did not see this letter.

Has anyone else received this? My engine was replaced after failure in mid-October 2024, at 32k miles.

They are saying I'm good to go, but of course I question this...

You’re probably good to go if your engines build date is after the cut off. Yes, several of us have gotten this letter, myself included.

Can I add fuel to the fire?:) Judging by the catalogs, nothing has changed in the 6.2 engine of the second half of 24 and 25. Everything is the same there:)
so replacing the engine with a new one, apparently, will not solve the problem. That before, under warranty, they were replaced several at a time, and that now.
and we already have broken 6.2. mileage 3000 km. production date January 2025.

Vladimir,

Where is this 2025 failure documented?

If your engine is fine, why would you be entitled to that?
Who is to say that it won't develop a problem at 30K or 40K or........ I've read where some folks were doing fine and then out of nowhere so to speak the engine goes bad.

Was it a bottom end failure?
