I just joined this forum and came across this event only a few weeks away. Couple of questions:

Do I need to do anything in advance to my Yukon before attending?

What exactly is done, is it just a reflash of the ECU?

Are the tunes custom to each vehicles mods and/or primary uses? (i.e. towing)

My '02 Yukon is completely stock (other than Porterfield brakepads, which stop really well), is there any mods that are highly recommended before doing this tune or does it really not matter? I use the vehicle primarily for daily driving (actually wife drives it) and towing my race trailer. I would really like to improve the shifting in town and the tow/hauling performance.

Please excuse my ignorance, thanks in advance.

This is a tall order to answer completely but I will take a stab at it!! As for getting the most for your money would be to have a CAI and aftermarket muffler installed before the tune, that's the minimum for a very effective tune (still a good thing even without those done). As for things to get done to your truck prior is clean out your throttle body, seafoam your truck, clean your MAF, change your fuel filter and just do your regular maintenance before your meet!!
As for whats in a tune, it's better answered by the pros but what I do know is Justin will hook up his computer to your truck and will see how your truck is running in real time and can tailor a tune to whatever you preference is, he changes values for your engine as well as your transmission, can account for a prior tire size change when it comes to shift points, recalibrate speedometer for tire size change, can turn on electric fan settings in your PCM for future electric fan installation, etc!! Best of all, you will get better fuel economy as well as overall better performance, best of both worlds!! There's more but I could keep going on for a while longer, better left up to Justin or Jenna to add to the list!!
Put some thought to it and if you wanna join the group in 2 weeks, get your deposit in soon!!! Hope to add your name to the list and meet you at the meet!!

Thanks for the info, yes I am interested in joining this group meet. I just picked up my new enclosed car hauler tonight and I am really looking forward to more performance.

As for things done to my Yukon, I have changed the fuel filter but I have not cleaned the MAF or the throttle body. However, I can do these before the meet if necessary.

As for a CAI, what are the recommendations? Will a drop-in K&N filter get me most of the way there. This is my wife's daily driver and my weekend tow vehicle for long trips so I really don't want to add a lot of exhaust noise.

I also noticed in your sig that you have the oversized tranny cooler? Do you have more info on that in another thread? I am planning on purchasing a new gauge cluster with the trans temp gauge tomorrow off the guy on eBay.

Thanks,
Britain

Well, since I only have 4 posts, I can't reply to your PM.

Here is what I wanted to say:

I am out in Hillsboro. Also, I would love to get more info from you on your trans cooler.

So, I was reading about the CAI. Not to cheap out, I think I will get a K&N drop-in filter and do the airbox holes mod. Looking at the BlackBear dyno graphs, this will get me most of the way there.

Also, will I need to run 91+ octane gas after I do the BB tune?

I will pm you my email address and phone number!!
As for the 91 octane question, he can tune your vehicle to run whatever you want, regular or premium unleaded, there is alot he can do to make your tune truly custom!! Have you read through blackbears website, they have a frequently asked questions section, it's worth a read and it would probably answer most of what you are unsure of!! Let me know if you need anymore help, feel free to email me or call!!

Cool. I am just about 90% in. I need to determine my schedule that weekend as my wife works, I have to watch the kids, and I have a race on that Sunday. Are you going to be scheduling times so that if I drive up Sat. morning with my little kids, we can fill a time slot and get back down to Portland? If I can schedule around noon or so, I am definitely in.

Thanks,
Britain

Just posted my deposit as per the inst.

I would really like to get a time slot between 12-2 if possible.

For the remaining balance, can we pay credit card at the meet or is it cash/check?
