What color is your bowtie on your PPV/SSV

Good day all,

I'm wondering what color your front Chevy bowtie is on your PPV or SSV? My 2011 SSV has a black bowtie and I noticed that most of the civilian Tahoe's have the gold ties. I'm just wondering if this is a way to distinguish a civilian Tahoe v PPV/SSV?

They are all gold from factory.

Yours is actually missing the gold piece that sticks on to that black part.

Yeah, you can see the little nipple forms during the molding process in the middle of it, and the remnants of the glue all the way around the border of the black area.
I think you can get replacements pretty cheap online
Or just go with a aftermarket one of your choice obviously.

I actually like it black!! I thought maybe that was Chevy's way of distinguishing PPV's / SSV from the civilian Tahoe's. Now I understand

If you go for the illuminated bow tie it’s black and they also include black rear bow tie.

My Border Patrol Tahoe 4x4 SSV bow ties were gold. I removed the gold layer with a knife with plans to replace them. Under the front one I found a black bow tie that looks awsome for the front. I pulled the gold layer off of the rear and I found a chrome bow tie underneath. I like the back even more than the front! Get your courage up and rip off the gold layer.

I am pretty sure they all came gold, mine did too. I removed the chrome grill inserts and found an aftermarket black grill set, and painted my bowtie black like my heart also.

Ours was also gold, but weird that when viewed at a distance, and an angle it looked black until the vehicle turned toward you. I thought that was a pretty cool effect.

I know this is an older post.....Mine has the gold, but kinda feel like a metallic blue would look cool on the white tahoe ppv.

I got mine from the Chevy app and the GM online store.

If you sign up for rewards they give you points for service like oil change and other stuff.
They also run specials on certain parts so if you’re patient you can always get 10-15% off parts. Seems like every couple months they run a parts discount.
If you buy from GM online they quote you an install price which is usually cheaper than the hourly labor price at the dealership.

They ship it there and if you buy the online price they always honor it even though it might take extra time. The install of the illuminated Bowtie was much cheaper if purchased online compared to the actual time it took to do the job. I purchased the installation price online when I bought the part at 15% off.

Gotta admit the dealer did a great job on the install and it isn’t hard but easy to mark up the vehicle or break a part if you have not done it before.
