Do they all squeel like crazy brand new???

I think so. I heard one of my locals squeal when they stopped. I haven’t gotten mine put together to know more first hand.

I asked one of the local sheriffs the other week how he liked his new tahoe. He said it was great other than the brakes squealing

It’s the PPV pad material, backing, etc. Live with it, try to have the dealer spray the pads with CRC Disc Brake Quiet, or swap out for a different set of pads.

At first I was under the impression that you were incorrect about ceramic pads being available. However after looking at rockauto power stop brand has several choices of ceramic options available that were not available at the beginning of the year.

All of ours squeal too. We heard GM is working on a new style pad but not sure when that will be available.

Quick question about the brake squeal…

Is it noticed right after placing the vehicle into service or is there a window where the issue starts to develop after a period of time?

After a slow start getting our 2023 Tahoes upfitted, we are now placing them into service. I haven’t heard of any complaints (yet it seems) about break squeal.

ONLY lubricate the backing plate of the pads, fair warning!!

Noticed our 2022’s started the squealing when they hit about 1500-2500 miles.

Hey everyone, I'm a Fleet Tech for a local municipality. The brake squeal in the gm ppv is not a new problem. We have delt with it in every gm police car since 04. The factory gm pads are just noisy and wear out fast. We deal with the sqeal until the 1st brake job and swap out to another pad. We have had really good luck over the years swapping to Rebestos Police specific pads and rotors. No sqealing lot longer wear intervals depending on the officer.

Point is I have (10) 2021 tahoes , (6) 2023 tahoes. All of our 21's squeal and haven't got more than 20 to 22k miles out of original pads all 4 corners depending on driver. We have been doing fronts at 20 and rears at 22k. We have since replaced all of these with the Rebestos Police pads and resurfaced the rotor.

The numbers I wil share are for the 16" front rotors and 6 piston calipers with the 13" rear rotors. So far, O'Reillys is the only one for us that can get these. Front pads are # SP2407PP
Rear pad # SP2174APPH. O'Reillys does off the replacement rotors as well.

There are different manufacturers of good police replacement pads. These are what has worked for us over the years and have worked very well, so this is what we stick with. We have used this brand in 2004 to 2013 Impalas, 2000 to 06 tahoes, 2020 tahoes and our current 2021 tahoes. Hope this information helps.

Thats about right. We just had the officers deal with the noise till the first brake job. Then it got addressed with the new pads. Depending on the operator. We averaged just about 20k on fronts and 22k on the rears.

I'm at nearly 68,000 miles on what I believe are the original pads and rotors considering I've owned it since 34,000 miles.

No, it takes a few thousand miles, then they are horrible.
