My 2012 has had zero problems, no TSBs nothing, so maybe I'm spoiled. At this time the 2021 has four recalls and 296 TSBs but I never said it is a crappy vehicle I'm saying it doesn't have the overall reliability for me to consider it especially after the test drive revealed a few issues. GM is experiencing part supply problems and quality control issues at the assembly plants. I suspect the covid pandemic has caused employee shortages and perhaps dissatisfaction among those forced to work.

Overall things aren't as they once were and to top it off dealerships are seeing less customer satisfaction with their experiences. My dealership has had a complete turnover in personnel so I suspect their pay and benefits have been reduced resulting in less qualified and motivated service personnel.

I'm from another era and I realize it will never be what it once was but I also believe pretending otherwise isn't the answer. We need to be reminded occasionally that we are headed in the wrong direction.

BTW, my 2012 gets 20 to 22 MPG on trips what are you getting?

It was an LT with black interior that I drove in August. It had a squeak coming from the right second row area. While looking for it back on the lot we found a loose cargo area lamp that wobbled, something that should have never left the manufacturer. Other issues were design related to lesser materials such as the thin plastic panels in the cargo area, carpeting and trim pieces.

I'm waiting to see what Lexus does with their redesigns. They have the best reliability but the styling takes some getting used to. Another is Lincoln's updating as they have the most comfortable seats, I'm hoping they reintroduce the V8 as an option. Eventually I expect Chevy to make the Tahoe an acceptable option. I've driven Chevys for the past 30 years. My first car was a 63 Impala.

I'm shopping, myself. There's some TSB's, and some alarming ones at that, but don't take the 200+ count from that car problem site to make your decision. They list EVERY revision of an existing TSB as individual due to the unique TSB number assigned. I'm more likely going to wait for 22 simply due to the order constraints.

Very smart move. Also just an FYI the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer introduce their production versions at noon this Thursday. They developed them to compete with the Tahoe/yukon and Denali. Both units will be on the Ram truck frame. You know the truck that has won truck of the year multiple times this past few years

Never have, never will own a Chrysler/Dodge product, so meh.


I knew I'd likely have to order what I wanted months back. (pretty much everything EXCEPT the dumb rear entertainment screens.) And faced with ordering exactly what I want because why wouldn't I, or ordering what I could get due to constraints on Max Towing and air ride, I might as well wait.

I said the same thing for years about Ford, dodge and chrysler until I retired from the FD and started driving rental cars for Hertz at our airport. I got to drive just about every brand and vehicle on short and long trips. The Jeep upper end products held up very well in the real world . The Chevy, GM, Ford, Nissan and Cadillacs spent a ton of time in the shop. They can't handle the real world beating rental customers put on them LOL

I got my Z71 Tahoe in October and I like it a lot. I did have to take it to the dealership twice for an Air Bag light but that’s common for a first year vehicle. They look great, rides awesome but the interior is the best part. I would recommend paying more for the 360 camera

I agree with you on all points. the ride and interior are a great improvements over previous generation and the 360 camera is a must.

I'm actually unimpressed with the ride quality and that's coming from 3 pickup trucks (F-150, Titan, Ram). I can feel all the road imperfections. I only have the base suspension, so I suspect it will be much better with magnetic ride and air suspension. All the YouTube peeps seem to love that setup.

I wish there was another option for a large SUV with the same or more cargo room behind the 3rd row when said 3rd row is up and occupied.

This was about a month ago in our '15 Suburban LTZ on a 3 day trip to the mountains before we traded it in on a '21 Yukon XL Denali.

I did something similar, but with the one from Lowe's when it was on sale plus military discount, paid around $475 for the 5x8, non folding though. I made 3 walls around it that can be removed if needed. It has worked great for it's capacity. If I need more which is rare, I'll just rent one from HD.

I just got back from a road trip where I loaded my Tahoe cargo area floor to ceiling. Luckily I have the rear view camera which I love on a daily basis but after this trip I realize this is a must have option for what these SUVs are used for. What a fantastic feature! However it might be blocked when I add my hitch carrier.

Once again another miss from GM. The rear view camera should be offered on all trim levels since all levels have at least the rear camera. Typical GM. profits over safety

My last was a 2016 Yukon Denali with magnetic ride and now I have a 2021 Tahoe Z-71 without magnetic ride or air suspension that rides much better than any of my previous ones; go figure!? In my mind, I believe it's the independent rear suspension that is providing the noticeable smoother ride to me and this even with the 20" wheels and all-terrain tires!

I agree about the previous generation. Before buying my 21, I test drove 2020 Yukon Denali and Escalade. I thought the ride was horrible. I was actually amazed at how poor it was for the Escalade. My 21 does ride better than those.

I agree that the ride quality is very good. I think this is a combination of the independent rear suspension and magnetic ride control that I have on my premier. The big 22s on my build do add some stiffness which some might not like, I actually have come to like getting that road "feedback" from the bigger wheels.
