is that correct or is the GM branded the same as the touring?

I'm looking to replace my stock exhaust on my 2017 Denali, but hate to spend that much if the Touring is only slightly more aggressive than stock.

I will upload a video later. It’s loud enough that when I auto start in the morning there is no confusion wether or not the truck is running. But it’s not so loud that my neighbors hate me.

I spoke with Borla about the tone, as I thought it would be a little louder. According to a tech, it is designed specifically by GM and Borla, stating it is not a direct touring or S type, but a hybrid right in the middle because of the valve.

Does that mean that none of the Bolra branded systems have the valve? I thought their touring system did have a valve.

Wonder if the GM Borla is an S-Type muffler with the valve that knocks the sound down...

It's my understanding that the valve is exclusive to the GM Borla, not the stand alone Borla system.

I'd really like to know the answer to this:

What is the muffler part number that comes with the GM branded Borla exhaust.
Why couldn't someone just buy the muffler itself, weld it, keep everything else stock and achieve exact same result for a fraction of the cost.
can anyone crawl under their turck and find the part number of that muffler?

I have the touring..if you still have the sport muffler I’d take it off your hands as it’s too quiet for my taste. There’s virtually no highway drone.

I am looking for the quietest option that still has some tone to it.
Similar to last gen stock 6.2 Escalade I remember listening to
so quiet ok but any improvement in tone over stock?

I would say the GM Borla system is the best choice for you. It is a little bit of a deeper and smoother tone than the last gen Escalade but similar in volume. No drone and keeps the switch over to 4 cylinder mode transparent.

I am astonished how my quiet my suburban is as is, stock, I dove next to it and its so quiet it reminds me of a lexus ls460 or a town car in the way its so muffled....

I am wondering if instead of spending more than 1k on the borla GM branded catback, I could simply buy the same muffler from borla and weld it in place of the large suitcase muffler currently in the truck.

Anyone has done that?

This is a popular option - you would have to search and see which model of Borla or Magnaflow mufflers people use. You need a 3.5" diameter pipe. A friend of mine did this on his 2018 6.2L Sierra Denali (forgot what model Magnaflow - but the one recommended by NORCAL SS). Works well and sounds good - especially for the price. Personally I think the Borla still sounds better but hard to say it sounds $700+ better (I'm also partial to the sound of Borla over Magnaflow mufflers).

As I recall, it was whisper quiet at cruise and woke up and made some noise when your foot went down. It's been a while since I've been in that car on the highway but I recall it being similar to my Corsa in that regard - and that is exactly how my Corsa behaved.

Just did the GM Performance cat-back system on my 2019 Suburban 6.2. Cruising at 70 there’s little to no difference from the factory system. Punch it and you’ll enjoy the music.

I’m sure it’s my imagination but it feels more powerful. Probably just an overall sensory thing. Anyway, highly recommended.

I just installed the GMPP cat back on my SLT 6.2 about 2 weeks ago.
As mentioned already, at highway speeds just cruising, it is almost unnoticeable. I mean that in a good way. No drone, no V4 issues. But once you get on it to pass someone, you know it's there.
City driving it's louder with a distinct deep rumble but not obnoxious.
Exactly what I was looking for. I do like the sound of the corsa, but for me, I think it might be a little too loud. Just my opinion though.

That’s why you go cheap and do a muffler swap.

Just swapped out the factory muffler on my Escalade for dynomax round body and I love it. All said and done for $130.

Highways speeds you barely notice it but around town and accelerating it has a good rumble and not overbearing at all.
