If it's actual paint and not a vinyl overlay or decal you might be out of luck.
Yeah it's paint. There's overspray in the jambs
New PPV owner and new to the site, picked up this 11 PPV and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on removing this black stripe. It's painted on top of the factory paint.View attachment 190759
It's painted over the factory paint?
Hmm, I wonder how thick it is.
Has it been cleared or is it just paint? It is. It's thick enough that I can feel it with my thumb nail.

That's tough. All of ours have decals. Mine has left marks, I need to do some serious paint correction to clean it up.
It probably sounds crazy but, maybe try to sand down a small area to see what the extent of the damage is.

I think your best bet is to get creative with it knowing that the stripe isn't going anywhere. Maybe @Sevenevez has an idea or two?
The black stripe has a clear over it but it doesn't extend to the base coat.
That's what I was getting to. Maybe worth it to get a little creative. There's a couple of spots where it's chipping off, I wonder if hitting it with a pressure washer nice and close or a heat gun would make it come off.
unfortunately, there is no way to only remove the stripe without repainting it all. sorry
i mean, technically you could tape it all off and spray about 3-4 coats of your silver on top of just the black, and then clearcoat it. but it would take a lot of coats and would still show a line where it has been taped off
I was thinking he could incorporate the stripe into a new "design"
I would try and peel it off. If the original silver that's next to the black looks un touched, the black may have been sprayed on without sanding the surface. If so, it may power wash off. Worth a try.
There's a couple of little spots where it chipped or peeled off, paint seems OK underneath from what I can see. I bought some oven cleaner to test out... I've heard mixed results on it.
